Our resident tipster has analysed Monday's racing and has two selections at Cork.

  • Zoomtime showed promise in bumpers

  • Could be favourably positioned

  • Zoomtime is overpriced w/o the fav at Cork

Cork - 14:00 - Back Zoomtime w/o the fav

Moon Rise Beauty is an extremely short-priced favourite for the opening mares' maiden hurdle at Cork. Rather than taking her on, I think the more attractive betting option is in the without the favourite market where a couple of hurdling debutants look overpriced.

Zoomtime had two starts in bumpers and showed some ability in both under Abbie Fitzgibbon who keeps the ride today. On her debut at Punchestown, she was initially held up before racing keenly to take the lead turning the bend to go out on the circuit.

She continued to hold a prominent position, despite racing a bit wide, until racing awkwardly on the final bend and she dropped back to finish seventh.

She once again raced keenly early on in her second start at Roscommon a month later, setting off in midfield before pulling her way to the front before the end of the back straight on the first circuit.

She was headed by Deons Diamond early in the back straight for the final time and the pace quickened but Zoomtime continued to track her. She was in a share of second turning into the home straight before fading away to finish fifth.

I'm hoping they will let her race handily from the off today rather than trying to restrain her at all in midfield or further back. In a race of this nature, where many will be out there for experience, that could see Zoomtime be in an advantageous position.

It might be that they will be looking to focus on education and trying to settle her rather than racing as she did in bumpers. That could harm her chance but I think she's overpriced given the lack of depth outside of the favourite and any double-figure prices appeal in the without the favourite market.

Back Zoomtime in the 14:00 at Cork 1pt win w/o the favourite at 14/115.00

Cork - 14:00 - Back Half Off Six Pence w/o the fav

The other one of interest in this market is Half Off Six Pence who showed far more ability in points than her form would suggest.

On debut at Tyrella, she was held up in a detached last and was frequently slow and markedly out to the left at the fences which gave her no chance to make meaningful headway.

She went too freely next time at Ballycrystal when not seeing out the trip but next time at Borris House she had gained a bigger advantage over the chasing pack and was still a long way clear when coming down at three out.

Her keenness and jumping was once again an issue two starts ago at Monksgrange, this time jumping markedly out to the right and those problems showed again last time at Grennan when she finished well beaten.

The switch to much shorter trip and hurdles could see Half Off Six Pence in a much better light and she's another who could be favourably positioned if they try to repeat the tactics from the majority of her runs in points.

It might be that she's just very tricky, and it was worrying just how poor the last run was, but I think she's a bit overpriced given the quality of opposition here and any 6/17.00 or bigger appeals.

Back Half Off Six Pence in the 14:00 at Cork 0.5pt win w/o the favourite at 7/18.00
