Its Bilbo makes his debut for Henry de Bromhead in the opening juvenile hurdle at Punchestown and looks to have a strong chance having made a promising debut at Compiegne.

He was held up that day in a steadily run race and his jumping wasn't too fluent on various occasions. He still had nine rivals ahead of him turning into the home straight before making plenty of headway between two out and the last, despite not being given an overly hard time, but he couldn't make an impression on the leading trio on the run-in.

The winner of that race is now favourite for the Triumph Hurdle while the runner up won two starts later and is now a listed winner over fences and the fifth and sixth have won over hurdles since.

This was a promising debut from Its Bilbo considering he was poorly positioned and looked green. He was coming from a yard that isn't renowned for getting horses ready for their debut and physically he looked the type to improve with time so he could take a good step forward from that run today.

There is a slight concern that his head carriage was a bit high when asked for his effort but hopefully that was just greenness and he will be fine today. I'm hoping that his experience edge can count over Naturally Nimble and any 2/13.00 or bigger appeals.
