Find Me a 100 Winner: Two in-form outsiders to follow at huge odds

Column delivered a placed golfer at more than 600/1

Last week's 650.0649/1 chance, Casey Jarvis, finished tied for sixth at the Open Championship so hopefully a few followed and backed him each-way or in some of the side markets. Unfortunately for the column, after a slow start to the event, he never got close to trading at short enough odds on the Betfair Exchange to secure some returns.

On to this week, and with no event on the DP World Tour, we've only got the 3M Open on the PGA Tour to consider but as highlighted in my tournament preview, it's been a fantastic tournament for long-shots with five of the first seven winners going off at a triple figure price.

The 2023 winner, Lee Hodges, was a column pick at 100.099/1, so it's an event I've been looking forward to. I've picked out two.

3M Open Bet #1 - Taylor Pendrith @ 130.0129/1

It wasn't a surprise to see Canada's Taylor Pendrith miss the cut at the Corales Puntacana Championship last week after his near miss the week before when he lost in a playoff at the ISCO Championship at the third extra hole.

It's never easy to pick yourself up and perform immediately after a close defeat but he's demonstrated his wellbeing there and he looks too big too ignore at a venue he's played well at before.

Pendrith, who won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson Championship two years ago, enjoys a low scoring event and he finished fifth here in 2024 having led at halfway.

A 73 on Saturday saw him fall down the field but he rallied on Sunday to climb from ninth to fifth, so we know the course suits, although he did miss the cut on debut in 2023 and he was only 68^th 12 months ago.

A weekend off last week to regroup will have done him good and he may well bounce back here and contend again.

3M Open Bet #2 - Steven Fisk @ 170.0169/1

Brian Harman, Max Greyserman, Aldrich Potgieter, David Lipsky and Chis Kirk were all carefully considered but I'm going to keep things incredibly simple, and my only other selection is the man that beat Pendrith in extra time, Steven Fisk, who's drifted out to a remarkable price of 170.0169/1.

Fisk, who's generally trading at 66/167.00 and 80/181.00 on the High Street, finished down the field in 74^th on debut last year so that's a bit of a negative but his victory two weeks ago didn't come out of the blue.

The 29-year-old had finished 10^th in the Charles Schwab Challenge at the end of May and the fact that he's seeking his third PGA Tour title in the space of 10 months, having also won the Sanderson Farms Championship in October last year, make the odds seem even bigger.

Fisk missed the cut in the Bank of Utah Championship in his first start after last year's victory but that was understandable given it was his first victory on the PGA Tour, and he should be better equipped to perform better after his latest win.

The week off to refresh should have done him good and although back-to-back winners are rare, Fisk is simply too big.
