Poland threw away a two-goal lead in Astana yesterday, which might in turn mean Kev's throwing a few things around of his own today. A final score of Kazakhstan 2 Poland 2 leaves him non-plussed for the day, but still with a positive account for the year.

A similar scoreline would be alright by us this evening.

For the opening round of World Cup qualifying group D, Republic of Ireland travel to Serbia. Martin O'Neill's men scored in 3/4 appearances in France over the summer and, despite the loss of record goalscorer Robbie Keane, look capable of troubling the Serbian backline tonight.

The boys in green found the back of the net on 4/5 away trips during Euro 2016 qualifying, while also conceding in 4/5 (only Gibraltar failed to break them down).

Their hosts have seen both teams score in each of three friendlies over the summer and have been similarly porous in competitive games. Since the 2010 World Cup, the Serbs have conceded in 12/14 qualifiers on home turf.

Slavoljub Muslin's men start as favourites for this one, but we fancy the Irish to make trouble for them at some point.
