Partick Thistle can be a thorn in the side of Celtic, says Tobias Gourlay

Yesterday's bet is still live. But that shouldn't stop us doubling our interest in this afternoon's Scottish Premiership.

Partick Thistle are running ninth in the 12-team league. No one much expects them to upset top-of-the-table Celtic, but they might at least run them close on this fine New Year's Day afternoon.

The Jags are an even W3-D3-L3 at Firhill this term and each of those three defeats have been by the slenderest of margins.

Alan Archibald has built his team on strong defence: home and away they have conceded fewer goals than anyone else in the bottom half (just nine in nine on home turf).

Ronny Delia's league leaders have dropped points in each of their last two Premiership outings. Home and away, they've won only 1/8 by a margin of more than one goal. On the road, that record is 1/7, which really isn't good enough for the handicap line to be drawn at 1.5 goals.
