Corinthian Spirit: All are now welcome to score goals at Sporting Park

Forget World Cups, it's games like the one in the Midwest tonight that will turn the US onto soccer, says Tobias Gourlay

You were promised a tussle.

It looked a thoroughly hollow promise until the 80th minute. Then Midtjylland scored. Then Copenhagen got a 90th-penalty and scored. And that was the bet won.

For the record, Midtjylland scored an even later penalty to win 2-1.

Today's game is one for the post-post-pub crowd. Kansas City won't kick off against Toronto FC until 01.30 UK time, but might just be worth the sleep deprivation.

After a string of clean sheets early in the 2014 MLS campaign, the third-placed Wizards have seen both teams score in each of their last six outings at Sporting Park.

Peter Vermes' men have hit the back of the net in 31/35 home games and shouldn't have too much trouble breaking through a Toronto defence that has managed clean sheets in only 2/17 away from home.

At the other end, eighth-placed Toronto have notched themselves in 9/11 on the road this term - hitting two or more in 7/11 - and rate a bet to score against the newly liberal Kansas defence.
