Sunderland will face Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final after beating Manchester United on penalties. Mike Norman has the details...

Sunderland heaped more misery on David Moyes and his Manchester United team by winning a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Old Trafford this evening.

Matched at a high of 17.016/1 To Qualify, Sunderland scored the crucial away goal with their first shot on target in the last minute of extra-time when Phil Bardsley's tame effort was fumbled by United keeper David De Gea.

But United - who had levelled the tie in 90 minutes thanks to 55.054/1 First Goalscorer Jonny Evans - hit back immediately through Javier Hernandez meaning the game went into a penalty shoot-out.

And what a shoot-out it was. Danny Welbeck and Phil Jones both had wild misses, while Adnan Januzaj and Rafael both saw their spot-kicks saved by Black Cats goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

Sunderland themselves saw three of their penalties either miss or saved through Craig Gardner, Steven Fletcher, and Adam Johnson. Only Marcos Alonso and Ki Sung-Yueng found the back of the net.

Gus Poyet's men were matched at 19.018/1 to win on penalties and will now face Manchester City in the final after they had completed a 9-0 aggregate win over West Ham on Tuesday night.

Man City - who have been matched at a high of 11.521/2 to win the competition - are now available to back at just 1.192/11 to lift the trophy at Wembley in February, while Sunderland can be backed at 6.25/1 from a high of 100.099/1.
