Ajinkya Rahane: I enjoyed playing under Stephen Fleming

I really enjoyed playing under Fleming. Those two years with CSK was really good. From a player's point of view, the freedom what we got... the freedom because when you fail, the insecurity is always there as a player. You always want to play each and every game, but that platform provided by the franchisee and the coaching staff - that even if you fail, you go out there and play your game. I thought it was that, so I really enjoyed playing for CSK and under Stephen Fleming.

KKR, I was the captain, so probably the atmosphere was good, but another coach I enjoyed playing under was Brendon McCullum, but that was only for a year. Even Rahul was good when he became the coach for Rajasthan Royals. He was good.

Rahane: Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri toughened up Indian cricket

Sourav Ganguly definitely set the standard. I played when he was with the team. When he was playing, I was just playing domestic cricket, but we played a couple of domestic matches against each other. The intensity part, I'll come back to. What I learned from the past senior cricketers was they were the same when they were playing international cricket and domestic cricket. The intensity was the same.

Even if you talk to Ravi, Ravi will tell you the same thing. Once you go out there in the middle, your intensity and the attitude matters a lot. So, Sourav definitely set the standard. But I feel when we started playing in our era, when MS was going from Test cricket - he was still playing T20s and ODIs as well, but especially in Test cricket I felt Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri were the guys who toughened up Indian cricket, especially playing overseas cricket. Going aggressive, going bold rather than being defensive and slightly reactive. I think we were always proactive.
