Rawlpindiz Pindiz are wrestling with Hyderabad Kingsmen in a race to the bottom of the PSL. Both are tripping up and stumbling in a desperate attempt to prove they are not quite as bad as the other.
It is unusual in a franchise league to have two outfits who are both absolute stinkers. Hyderabad may argue they have an excuse as they are making their debut season. The Pindiz are the old Sultans franchise but with a major overhaul in squad. They really should be doing better.
It's four straight defeats and their net run rate is the worst so they prop up the rest. Against Sultans last time out, bless them, they thought they were competitive at the break posting 182. Just 16.2 overs later they were beaten.
Their bowling looks incredinbly weak with Daryl Mitchell and Dian Forrester used as their fifth and sixth options against Sultans. It is not helped by Rishad Hossain, normally so reliable, loooking a little off colour.
Quetta have only one more win to their name so one could be forgiven for not steaming in at 1.684/6. A Jekyll and Hyder Karachi pitch does not engdener confidence either.
In the three matches so far we have seen an entirelly different kind of contest to the batting-friendly surfaces of Lahore. Hyderabad and Peshawar had an attritional battle which Zalmi triumped in, chasing 145 - just. Lahore were razed for 100 against Islamabad and then Zalmi beat Karachi Kings by 159 runs after bowling them out for just 87.
Given Pindiz's dreadful batting and the state of the track, Betfair Sportsbook's no fifty in the match has significant appeal at 9/25.50. Don't be afraid to take on big-priced lower-order batters for top-bat wins. Rishad at 33s may fit the bill for Pindiz.
Lahore Qalandars have been flirting with a disaster in this PSL and they could be on the cusp of a full-blown crisis. All was clearly not well when Sikandar Raza and Shaheen Afridi broke security protocols at the start of the tournament. Then Fakhar Zaman was banned for two games for ball tampering.
Fakhar returns here but he comes back into a team which is in danger of losing its way. They were thrashed by old rivals Islamabad in a deeply troubling performance, losing by nine wickets after being rolled for 100. True it was only their second defeat but they now face a powerful Zalmi side who are loving Karachi life.
Zalmi are unbeaten and have enjoyed two wins in the city, the last by a massive 159 runs against Kings. We await to see the prices on a mature market but suspect Zalmi will be underrated at odds-against. If so we'll be backing them. Sportsbook have this as a choice affair which would be about right.
