Islamabad United v Quetta Gladiators team news
Islamabad managed a thrilling win over Sultans in their last outing but they may end up regretting flaky performances when a top-two spot seemed within their grasp.
Their performances are typical of their players. Alex Hales is unpredictable, as the hit-or-miss in-chief, while Colin Munro turned up big time against Sultans after they'd conceded 228.
United do have an overseas spot available for another bowler with Obed McCoy and Matthew Forde options.
Probable XI: Munro, Hales, Salman, Shadab, Azam, Haider, Imad, Faheem, Naseem, Hunain, Mills
Quetta's fast start has fallen away and they've won only one of their last four. Laurie Evans has arrived to reinforce a batting unit in need of firepower.
They are heavily reliant on Jason Roy continuing his good tournament form while they are waiting for Rilee Rossouw to produce a captain's effort.
Probable XI: Roy, Shakeel, Rossouw, Yousuf, EVans, Nafal, Hosein, Wasim, Amir, Abrar, Tariq
Islamabad United v Quetta Gladiators pitch report
Four from eight this term at Karachi have meant unders on a tissue par line of 165.5 were winners. Zalmi struggled against Multan on Thursday, posting just 146 in defeat. That's one run less than they managed against Kings in their previous outing at the venue.
With a run rate of 7.8 in the tournament, Quetta could struggle to bust the 165.5 par line.
Man for man, this should be a stroll for United. The match odds market agrees and has them installed as favourites at 1.738/11, one of the shortest prices we've seen in the tourny.
Still, we haven't forgotten United's three-wicket defeat by Quetta after posting just 138. They have the odd stinker in their locker for sure.
It may be wise to keep the toss on side with United bowling first and perhaps wait for a shift up the 1.804/5 mark.
Imad Wasim has been up and down the batting order for United this season. He has batted as high as No 4 and as low as No 8. He is also overdue on his two-year win rate.
We will have a small interest in the 50/151.00 that he tops for his team. The potential for a tricky track is helpful and it could be that 30-odd wins it.
