Sunrisers Hyderabad v Punjab Kings team news

Aiden Markram and Marco Jansen have both been tried and dropped. Glenn Phillips hasn't been given a game but could be a great shout because of his useful spin.

Possible XI: Head, Abhishek, Agarwal/Unadkat (subs), Reddy, Klaasen, Samad, Shahbaz, Cummins, Sanvir, Kumar, Viyaskanth

Sam Curran and Jonny Bairstow were expected to leave Punjab after their win over Rajasthan. With Liam Livingstone also having departed they are short of players. Just as well they didn't qualify for the play-offs. Shikhar Dhawan could return to open while Chris Woakes, if he's still there, may play alongside Sikandara Raza. Kagiso Rabada is injured.

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Punjab Kings pitch report

Sunrisers' clash over Gujarat was washed out. Lucknow made it look like a terror track when they could muster only 165-4 last time out. There is no rain forecast this time. Sunrisers lost no wickets and got them in 9.4 overs. There has been plenty of the wear on the square, though, and the unders 181.5 line is keeping a Punjab bat first on side. Sunrisers could still bust over 206.5.

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Punjab Kings match prediction

Sunrisers at 1.558/15 are officially the shortest priced team pre-toss this IPL. Obviously it's based on the gulf of ability between the teams and Punjab's player drain. But the fact Sunrisers need the win and Punjab don't is also a factor.

They are still in with a shout of a top-two finish so long as they win and Royals fail to win versus KKR in their final match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Punjab Kings match prediction

We need to keep fingers crossed that we get a shift in that Sunrisers price. So, a flat pitch is required and Punjab to bat first and to bat well.

Anything upwards of 190 and we can get with the hosts at inflated odds to get up. The reality is we expect them to chase anything. And we mean anything.

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Punjab Kings player bets

Punjab have had a real issue against left-arm spin this term, as discussed in the Royals preview. Ravi Jadeja, Noor Ahmed and Sai Kishore have taken 11 of their wickets between them. Shahbaz Ahmed then fits the bill for top Sunrisers bowler at 5/16.00. He has bowled only 20 overs this tournament but it would be a surprise if Sunrisers were unaware of his potential worth.

The 9/25.50 on Heinrich Klaasen is, finally, a price we can get on board with for top SRH bat.
