Mumbai Indians v Lucknow Super Giants team news
Mumbai could have been asked to rest Jasprit Bumrah and Skuryakumar Yadav. It would certainly make sense with the T20 World Cup starting for India on June 5. Vishnu Vishnod in for Ishan Kishan would be smart to look to the future.
Possible XI: Rohit/Vishnu/Ishan, Yadav, Tilkak, Hardik, David, Wadhera, Coetzee/L Wood, Manan Dhir, Kamboj, Chawla, Thushara
Lucknow's defeat by Delhi ended their play-off hopes. It was their third on the spin in a calamitous run-on when they were found out against better sides. In a meaningless game we can't be surprised if, say, Prerak mankad, is finally given a hit.
Possible XI: De Kock, Rahul, Stoinis, Pooran, Prerak/Mohsin (subs), Badoni, Krunal, Gowtham, Bishnoi, Thakur Naveen
Mumbai Indians v Lucknow Super Giants pitch report
Scores of 173-169-206-196 in first-innngs at the Wankhede recently suggest the wicket might not be as flat as the others in a run-laden tournament. With Lucknow having major struiggles with the bat - there were some dreadfully slow individual efforts in a gettable chase against Delhi - that unders 196.5 is an option on the 20-over line.
Mumbai Indians v Lucknow Super Giants match prediction
Mumbai are 1.794/5 for victory. They're priced as if they've won nine from 13 instead of having lost that many. But the market has consistently overvalued them this term.
Lucknow, therefore, are clear and obvious value at 2.265/4. They won the head-to-head by four wickets and this should clearly be a choice affair. If they chase they should make use of the toss bias and ensure Mumbai's season ends in fitting fashion.
We often talk up late runs at the Wankhede. But Lucknow have third tighest bowling unit at the death. Here they go up against a Mumbai side which just hasn't accelerated as expected.
The hosts are way down the list as the seventh-fastest scorers (or third slowest) so laying 50 or 55 runs at the death for Mumbai is a strategy when batting first.
Mumbai Indians v Lucknow Super Giants player bets
Sky is 7/24.50 with Sportsbook to sign off with another top-bat win for Mumbai. It is a wager on win rate versus implied probability. Bumrah is 5/23.50 for top MI bowler with his incredible economy rate winning him any tie. We were hoping Sportsbook would take a view on Quinton de Kock - as they have previously - for top LSG bat but 11/43.75 isn't quite right despite a flatter surface suiting him.
