Mumbai Indians v Kolkata Knight Riders team news
Mumbai's season is as good as over. They need favours from all the over shop, to win all their matches and a big net run rate boost. They may also come under pressure to rest Jasprit Bumrah as he must be fit for the World Cup.
Possible XI: Ishan, Rohit, Suryakumar/Thushara (subs), Tilak, Hardik, Wadhera, David, Nabi, Chawla, Coetzee, Bumrah
Harshit Rana has been suspended so death duties could go to Vaibhav Arora. Mitcell Starc may miss out to Dushmantha Chameera. Suyash Sharma, the spinner, is likely to be used as an impact sub swapping in or out for Ramandeep or Venkatesh.
Possible XI: Salt, Narine, Raghuvanshi, Shreyas, Venkatesh, Russell, Rinku, Ramandeep, Chameera, Varun, Arora
Mumbai Indians v Kolkata Knight Riders pitch report
Apart from Mumbai's pathetic effort against Royals, the Wankhede has been full of runs. First-innings scores (most recent first) read: 206-196-234. With both bowling sides leaky (Mumbai have an economy of 10 and KKR 9.7) we expect runs. Both teams for 190, then, with Sportsbook may not be short enough at 5/61.84. Alternatively, backing the side batting first for over 208.5 is the par line.
KKR hit back against Delhi with a surprisingly strong bowling show following the record failure when defending against Punjab. It kept them second in the table.
Why, then, are they 2.206/5 outsiders? They have won twice as many games as Mumbai, who have been consistent in their chaotic appraoch. It also appears that there's a distinct lack of team spirit.
Chasing is the way to go at the Wankhede. Seven of the last 11 have been won batting second in the IPL. That forms a decent strategy in-play.
Fingers crossed it's Kolkata. Presumably they will drift further if the Wankhede surface and their bowling economy holds. We have no fears about them getting up to the 220s.
A couple of old faithfuls are wagers on the top bats. Suryakumar Yadav is underrated at 4/15.00 for Mumbai. Do be aware he will be voided if he comes in as a sub in the chase. Andre Russell is value against 6/17.00 after an unfair cut against Delhi.
