Lucknow Super Giants v Mumbai Indians team news
Back-to-back wins over Chennai Super Kings reaffirms Lucknow's status as an extremely solid outfit but one which comes up short against the very best. See defeat by Royals. Could they improve? Getting Mayank Yadav fit and finding room for a hitter like Prerak Mankad could make all the difference.
Probable XI: De Kock/Mishra (subs), Rahul, Stoinis, Hooda, Pooran, Badoni, Krunal, Henry, Bishnoi, Mohsin, Yash
Mumbai are playing knockout cricket after their latest disaster against Delhi. Gerald Coetzee could be fit again after a stomach upset. Ironically they have found room for Nuwan Thushara and Nehal Wadhera a little too late.
Probable XI: Rohit, Ishan, Sky/Thushara, Tilak, Wadhera, Hardik, David, Nabi, Chawla, Coetzee, Bumrah
Lucknow Super Giants v Mumbai Indians pitch report
In a trend-busting season, Lucknow's 195 on a worn Lucknow square was another surprise. Perhaps 190 is the new 160. Runs par lines could be high again and we expect a settle in the mid 180s to short. It's a challenging mindset to forget the past. It will always feel like a short here until we retrain the brain. Mumbai's hopeless bowling is the thing to focus on.
This is a cut and paste job from Mumbai's last match against Delhi, which they lost. There is no evidence whatsoever that Mumbai should be favourites to win this game.
Lucknow, as stated above, are solid rather than spectacular. And that could be kryptonite to a Mumbai side going round the park and their skipper, Hardik Pandya, criticising team-mates publically. There is no way LSG should be 2.206/5.
There seems to be some belief that Mumbai will suddenly flick a switch and start performing because of the names they put down on paper. On grass they have been awful.
Mumbai have only one efficient tactic in the field: Jasprit Bumrah. Outside of his probable two sets of two we expect Lucknow to contract.
Betting is, of course, all about perfect timing and it's just worth reiterating that a wager on LSG when he is in his delivery stride is not it.
Suryakumar Yadav is a revisit for top MI bat. As an impact player we do need to be aware that he will be voided if his team chase. The 10/34.33 is a win-rate wager.
Quinton de Kock has been cut to 11/43.75. He is overdue a win but it's hard to stomach when we've been getting 4/15.00. Instead we'll have a little of the 18/119.00 about Krunal Pandya in case the surface reverts to an old-style stodge-fest.
