Jamaica Kingsmen and Guyana Amazon Warriors are both surprise participants in the final qualifier. Kingsmen breezed past home team favourite Barbados Tridents while Warriors, having dominated the league stage, were thrashed by Falcons.

Kingsmen had lost their last two in the group stage and were in negative equity, winning just four of their ten games to squeeze into the top four at the expense of St Lucia Kings on net run rate. But they played with freedom against Tridents making short work of a target of 144, getting home with 35 balls to spare. Maaz Sadaqat produced one of the more astonishing innings of the tournament, hitting 112 from 49 balls to quickly make the chase a no contest.

Warriors choking again

Warriors should be worried, which is actually pretty normal for them at this stage. They have an extraordinary record of choking under pressure, losing seven of the eight finals they have contested. Despite winning the ladder at a canter, they have now not just lost back-to-back games but been completely outclassed. Tridents razed them for 99 and the Falcons for just 76. It seems as if the Bridgetown surface is their kryptonite.

Big run totals unlikely

Despite the Sadaqat show, it is right to expect another attritional, low-scoring affair. The highest first-innings score in the seven games at the venue so far is Jamaica's 150 in match 34.
