Sunrisers Hyderabad v Gujarat Titans
Thursday 16 May, 15:00
TV: Live on Sky Sports
Sunrisers Hyderabad v Gujarat Titans team news
Sunrisers are only utilising three overseas spots currently. Aiden Markram and Marco Jansen have both been tried and dispensed with, which doesn't bode too well for South Africa in the World Cup. It is a surprise that Glenn Phillips hasn't been given a game, not least because of his useful spin.
Possible XI: Head, Abhishek, Agarwal/Unadkat (subs), Reddy, Klaasen, Samad, Shahbaz, Cummins, Sanvir, Kumar, Viyaskanth
Gujarat's play-off hopes were ended with a washout against Kolkata. Matthew Wade has been added to the XI. Kartik Tyagi, the pacer, doesn't have great numbers behind him.
Possible XI: Sudharsan/Warrier, Gill, Shahrukh, Miller, Tewatia, Wade, Rashid, Noor, Umesh, Mohit, Tyagi
Sunrisers Hyderabad v Gujarat Titans pitch report
Lucknow made it look like a terror track when they could muster only 165-4 last time out. Sunrisers lost no wickets and got them in 9.4 overs. There has been plenty of the wear on the square, though, so shorting a high par line at around 190.5 if Gujarat bat first isn't the worst option.
Sunrisers at 1.654/6 is one of the shortest prices we have seen on the match odds this season. It's usually the realm of the crack unit. We're not sure they're quite at that level yet but Gujarat are hardly likely to test them.
The Titans are the slowest scoring in the tournament and they're unlikely to be able to go quick enough to keep up.
Getting long of death over runs for Sunrisers is a reliable strategy. They have a strike rate of 183 in the last four overs. On the innings runs market add 55, 60 and 65 at decent numbers.
They cannot afford not to be hyper aggressive as there remains a chance they could finish in the top two.
We will have a small interest in Heinrich Klaasen finding form again. The 10/34.33 that he top scores is too short for a No 5 so instead play man of the match at 9/110.00. A spectacular late hitting show may be required rather than an innings of longevity. The latter most likely denied to him because of Sunrisers' ludicrous decision to keep out of the action.
