Texas Super Kings have had an even-money start from their four games. They recovered from a two-game losing sequence to beat San Francisco last time out. There is a suspected reason as to why their two wins were the bread in a double defeat snadwich. Faf Du Plessis failed in both of them.
Du Plessis, the league's most conistent run-getter, scored a ton in their first win and then hit 40 in the second. He didn't top-bat against Unicorns, however, meaning that for his fifth outing of the tournament he is very much in the win zone.
Donovan Ferreira got up at the last with 45. After his century in game one he went to a 50% hit rate. Faf's runs do look cheap at 22.5 at 5/61.84.
Sportsbook make Faf a 10/34.33 chance. It is clear on the evidence of the three editions that he should be shorter. There is a strong chance that elite players such as Faf find this tournamet's standards easy, although Steve Smith, this season only, of course, is testing that theory with three consecutive fails.
There is another strong top-bat chance turning out for MINY. Quinton de Kock wins at a rate of seven from his 20 outings. His big rival is Nic Pooran but Pooran has already won. As regular readers will know we don't like to go back-to-back on players to deliver so it could be that it is De Kock's turn. De Kock is 11/43.75. His runs are available at 24.5 overs at 5/61.84.
MINY should be boosted by the arrivals of Rashid Khan and Allah Ghazanfar following the end of their team's tour of India. They might not be able to find room for Ghazanfar but Rashid is certain to come in. One of Romario Shepherd or Corbin Bosch could make way.
Back Faf Du Plessis over 22.5 runs
The Orcas went second with an extremely impressive win over Freedom on Friday. It was the perfect performance after they batted first, smashed 227 and then razed their rivals for just 139.
From the outset they looked a well-balanced team and it could be that they are starting to find their way after significant churn in close season. They could yet get stronger. Lungi Ngidi, a marquee signing, has not made an appearance yet.
Shimron Hetmyer and Marcus Stoinis blitzed Freedom with the bat with strike rates of 239 and 262 respectively. Domestic player Jasdeep Singh took five wickets with his medium pace to make the chase a no contest. Having home players who can contribute in such a way is vital.
Unicorns have lost two from three. They are waiting on their top order to produce, notably Finn Allen. Allen smashed all kinds of records with a mounmental ton on this ground last season, hitting 19 sixes. Over 22.5 for the match this time is available at 4/51.80.
On the Exchange the early show has this poised to be a choice affair. It could be that the side batting first goes big, so for in-play options we would expect the chaser to be significant outsiders at the break. Orcas are 8/111.73 jollies with Sportsbook.
