Gulf Giants v Mumbai Emirates
Friday 10 February, 14:00
TV: Live on BT Sports
Team news
Giants may well have nerves jangling. Do they become another ladder winner to suffer in the play-offs, despite being the overwhelming best team over a long study period?
They had the game in their pocket for a spell against the Vipers in the qualifier.
Team changes in the last few matches may not have helped. They are not as strong with Colin de Grandhomme and Carlos Brathwaite in instead of Rehan Ahmed and Richard Gleeson.
Possible XI: Banton, Vince, Lynn, Hetmyer, de Grandhomme, Brathwaite, Wiese, Afzal Khan, Drakes, Jordan, Sharma
Emirates thumped Dubai Capitals in the eliminator. They are extremely dangerous with the bat and made light work of a potentially tricky chase.
Nic Pooran looked fluent - a rare thing - and with him finding form at the right time Emirates will expect a close affair.
Rashid Khan has also pitched up following his disastrous spell with MI Cape Town to provide four tight overs. Just keep him away from any decision-making.
Possible XI: Waseem, Fletcher, Tucker, Pooran, Pollard, Mousley, Bravo, Rashid Khan, Boult, Zahoor, Farooqi
Pitch report
Seven out of 14 matches have seen first-innings scores of 170 or more in Dubai. With Giants losing their sat nav with the ball against Vipers, Emirates' hard hitters will be well-backed to bust a par line likely to be set in the 166.5 region of they bat first.
How to play
The toss bias is non-existent. It's fifty-fifty so far in the tournament at Dubai for bat first and second.
Ordinarily we would lean on it heavily for the chaser. But it's not vital as there is a pure value wager.
Giants on an early show are set to go off at 2.2. We know Emirates are dangerous but Giants have shown great nous and they deserve some faith given their outstanding record.
They also outclassed their rivals in the head-to-head, chasing just 140. The other was washed out.
Tops value
Pooran gets a 9/2 quote for top Emirates bat. Vince has been boosted to 3/1 for Ginats. Be aware that Tom Banton batted down the order against Vipers so 3/1 is no fun.
Ahmed may bot involved anymore but the 60s is a risk on someone who had been oening at the start of the tournament.
