Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes team news

Alex Carey returns to the Strikers but Travis Head doesn't. Head looks unlikely to play any part in the Bash after a hectic schedule. Harry Nielsen hands the gloves to Carey. Henry Thornton and Lloyd Pope are preferred to Wes Agar and James Bazley with the ball.

Possible XI: D Short, M Short, Lynn, Hose, Carey, Kelly, J Overton, Thornton, Payne, Boyce, Pope

Matthew Wade remains absent with a back problem. All-rounder Brad Hope is added to a squad which is being held together by the considerable all-round talents of Nikhil Chaudhary.

Probable XI: Jewell, McDermott, Wright, Hain, Anderson, Chaudhary, David, Jordan, Dooley, Ellis, Meredith

Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes pitch report

In 14 of the last 24 games at the Adelaide Oval 160 or more has been busted in the first dig. Two hundred or more has been breached six times. Perth's 153 last time out was the biggest upset of the tournament. Adelaide's batting run rate far exceeds Hobart's so they would have to be the overs play batting first at around 176.5. Strikers chased 230 in the corresponding fixture last season.

Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes match odds

Adelaide are favourites at 1.865/6. Despite Carey's return we won't be rushing to take that price.

Yes we recognise they come off a tremendous performance against Scorchers but we're far from convinced they're an efficient outfit.

So what about Hurricanes? Well, they should have beaten Heat last time out but lost their nerve. It's a competitive heat but that's due to both sides being prone to calamity.

First batting use of a flat one makes for strong favourite status at the break so Hobart could flip these odds and then some to around 1.758/11. Both sides have to win all their remaining games to stand a chance of the play-offs.

Trade Hobart batting 1st to 1.758/11
