Just five go to post for this six furlong Kempton claimer, so what do Timeform make of the runners? Read on here.
This sprint claimer has attracted just five entries, though most have been at least fair at some point during their racing careers.
Mutamared had been smart in his pomp, finishing second to Borderlescott in the 2006 Stewards' Cup and showing his best form in a handicap over this course and distance back in September of the same year, when he beat the now smart Intrepid Jack. No more than fairly useful nowadays, Mutamared has won similar events to this on two of his four most recent starts including one over course and distance. He showed himself to be in good heart when last seen at Lingfield, winning another five-runner event by a neck from Desert Dreamer with subsequent winner Fyodor a similar distance back in third. Having been reasonably consistent during 2008, Mutamared is sure to take a hand in the finish here considering he has 12 lbs or more in hand over his rivals according to Timeform ratings.
Red Rudy won a similar contest to this here last April (when joint-favourite in a four-runner affair with another of today's rivals Angel Voices), but hadn't been seen since June until he appeared in a handicap on Saturday's card at Kempton. He finished a clear last there, though shaped as though possibly in need of the run. The fact that Red Rudy hadn't been in great form before his break could also go down as a worry, though if retaining all the ability he showed for his latest win he would be Mutamared's chief threat.
Obe Royal visited the racecourse no less than 28 times during 2008, but failed to win after the fourth of those outings. Reliable in the early part of the year, Obe Royal's form became progressively patchier as the season wore on and it may be the case that his exertions have taken their toll for the time being. Obe Royal is still capable of fair form and has very little to find on Red Rudy if on a going day, though Mutamared could well prove a different matter entirely.
The final two hopefuls are currently struggling for form. Angel Voices showed fair form in winning an apprentice handicap at Hamilton in August from an official mark of 64, though there is precious little to like about her four outings since. Normally a front runner, she is the obvious candidate to take the field along. Stoneacre Donny has yet to prove he possesses anything more than modest ability, and has been struggling since taking a minor event here almost a year ago.
