Strawberrydaiquiri is a proper trier and has the right attitude to get over the line in front.
"I am a big fan of Strawberrydaiquiri (2.10) who has done me a couple of favours of late with wins at Ascot and over course and distance, which stands her in good stead for a follow up in this listed contest."
Carl Harris is sorry to see York come to an end but looks forward to Saturday's racing where his money is on a cocktail and a man who endorses pizza.
York is over and I used to have an empty feeling, but since my daughter came along, her birthday is usually during the festival. But this year it has landed the day after. Instead of watching racing I will be watching a film about talking guinea pigs with a group of nine year-olds, which may be as surreal as some of my bets this week. I will put some bets on and will be surprised if I do not come home to a profit. There is some decent racing and I will be focusing on Sandown where the best of the day's action takes place.
I am a big fan of Strawberrydaiquiri (2.10) who has done me a couple of favours of late with wins at Ascot and over course and distance, which stands her in good stead for a follow up in this listed contest. Sir Michael Stoute's filly is clearly the best filly in the race and should land a hat-trick of listed wins. The three year-old grey filly tries very hard and has the right attitude to see her home. She has a bit in hand on official ratings and I will be confidently backing her once again. She is my best bet of the day.
Frankie Dettori is a hot jockey at the moment and can add to his strike rate by riding Fanjura (3.15) to victory for Barry Hills. Dettori was on board last time out when scoring over ten furlongs at Ascot. The hat-trick can be landed in a competitive looking race, but on his penultimate start over course and distance he showed a liking for the track which is experience he can put to good use here again. The handicapper has raised Fanjura only three pounds, which could still leave him on a winning mark. With Dettori (to Friday) boasting a 47% strike rate over the previous 14 days he is the man to follow.
Prince Of Johanne (5.25) is another hat-trick seeker and Ryan Moore is entrusted with the task. Good wins at Newbury and last time at Windsor has shown just how good this three year-old is. He is now four pounds higher thean his last run which seems pretty fair to me, with the only worry being the Cumani handicap debutant. I will stick with Jeremy Noseda's charge to finish the day in winning style.
Carl Harris' Best Bets for Saturday 22nd August.
2.10 Sandown- Strawberrydaiquiri, Win
3.15 Sandown- Fanjura, Win
5.25 Sandown- Prince Of Johanne, Win
