Carl Harris is looking forward to York and hoping to cap a good gambling week with a pair of winners today.

Goldikova won as easy as you like and proved herself to be one of the greats yesterday. I hope you got the early value as we never really had a moment of doubt. I am rather excited now that Sea The Stars has been declared to run at York, where the ground should be ideal for the great horse.

York is my local course so I will be there to see this true great in the flesh pick up half a million pounds for a canter around the Knavesmire. I hoped that Monday would be a no bet day. I fully expected real poor quality cards, but this is one of the best Mondays we have had for some time and I have a couple of real decent bets, that I am hoping will swell the coffers for four days at York.

Penitent (3.30, Kempton) was due to run at Chepstow a couple of weeks ago, but the weather had other ideas. My analysis of his chances then is just as pertinent today. He was a well backed maiden winner last time out at Newmarket, a performance that earned a mark of 84. The well bred three-year-old has already been gelded which should ensure a focused approach to this, his handicap debut. There is sure to be improvement from this lightly raced son of Kyllachy and his mark may prove to be favourable and with William Haggas having a good season, winning with one in five runners, I make Penitent my best bet of the day.
