Its a busy day of racing, to say the least with no fewer than seven UK meetings and two in Ireland. The action will come think and fast and I advise caution and very selective betting on this bank holiday Monday.

A decent two year-old listed race is run at Ripon where Stargaze (3.35) sets a very high standard. This is a drop in class for Andrew Balding's son of Oasis Dream who ran third behind the very smart Dick Turpin in a Goodwood group three last time. There are a few unexposed runners in the field, but Stargaze has the form in the book and the class to land this race for a very inform stable.

Firebet (3.45) has had a tremendous season for Richard Fahey who himself has enjoyed a prolific campaign and is still firing on all cylinders. Following three wins Firebet was thrown in with the big boys in the Gordon Stakes where he was second to the very smart Harbinger. This is a drop in class with the race looking like a shootout with Tranquil Tiger. As a three year-old Firebet gets thirteen pounds from Henry Cecil's horse and for me Firebet is a good thing here, he is definitely the bet of the day.

With the risk of sounding like a stuck record, both Godolphin and Frankie Dettori are in great form, as we witnessed at Goodwood on Saturday. Khor Dubai (4.15) was a very smart two year-old and looked to be back on track last time out at Kempton. Officially rated as the best horse in the race, Frankie Dettori can make his trip to Warwick worthwhile by riding a winner and entertaining the bank holiday crowd to a trademark flying dismount.
