Gordon Elliott: Don Cossack set for big test at Navan

Irish racing fans will relish Sunday's meeting at Navan

Don Cossack has been bouncing following his maiden win at the same venue and I've been very pleased with his schooling at home.

Gordon has never hidden his belief that Don Cossack could be one of the best horses he has ever trained. In Sunday's renewal of the Navan Novice Hurdle that faith will be put to the test by some of the  most exciting Novices in Ireland.

Mount Benbulben was favourite for this race last year but, for various reasons, could only finish second to the Willie Mullins trained Boston Bob, so I'm hoping to go one place better with Don Cossack on Sunday.

Obviously Willie looks to hold a strong hand once again with four entries at this stage - Pont Alexandre looks like an interesting recruit - while Royal Bond form is represented by third placed Zuzka.

But our fella has been bouncing following his maiden win at the same venue and I've been very pleased with his schooling at home.

It's a big rise in class but the step up in trip to 2m 4f will suit our fellow, so no worries on that front.

As I've said before this is a proper race horse and the whole yard is buzzing in anticipation of Sunday.
