There's top-class racing at Ascot and York to look forward to in the next few days so we caught up with leading trainers Michael Jarvis and Richard Fahey to discuss their best chances at the weekend.

"The Victoria Racing Club International Stakes (15:15, Ascot) is always a very hot race and Yaa Wayl [8.4] must have a good each-way chance this time."

Richard Fahey

Blaze Of Thunder 2yo chestnut colt
Timeform Rating 93p
Formfigures 51

I like him a lot and he did it well at Haydock last time. I just hope he will be quick enough now he is dropped back to 5f (14.00 York, Saturday) but I am sure he is well handicapped and he will like the ground. It's in the back of my mind that he wants a bit further but hopefully they will go hard early.

Antigua Sunrise 4yo bay filly
Timeform Rating 90
Formfigures 7-81425

We run three in the fillies' handicap (14.30 York, Saturday) and they are all doing their best, but Paul (Hanagan) has chosen Antigua Sunrise and you would have to say she was the best of them. She won't mind the drop back to this trip and she has been working with plenty of zip of late - it's a tough little race though.

Valery Borzov 6yo bay gelding
Timeform Rating 105
Formfigures 680-590

Again we have three in the big sprint (15.40 York, Saturday) and Paul is on Valery Borzov. He has just started to come to himself now and we have put the visor back on him for the first time since we have had him. I was hoping that the ground would have been a bit softer because he has dropped to a nice mark now - he should run a better race this time though.

Premier Clarets 2yo bay colt
Timeform Rating 94p
Formfigures 2131

Premier Clarets runs in the Listed race at Ascot (14.05 Saturday) and although this look a better race than he has been running in, I hope that the longer trip will be a plus. He probably needs to improve again but he does keep delivering on the track and if he can find a bit more over 7f, he must go well.

Chiswick Bey 2yo bay colt
Timeform Rating 88
Formfigures 120

He was a bit out of his depth in the Coventry Stakes last time but I am delighted with the mark he has for his first run in nurseries. The soft ground is just what he needs and he must have a cracking chance at Newcastle (14.25 Saturday). The trip and ground are ideal for him and he looks our best chance on Saturday.

Michael Jarvis

Toolain 2yo brown colt
Timeform Rating 108
Formfigures U1

We all know what happened on his debut at Sandown when he unseated his rider close home when he would have either won or finished second. We took him to Wolverhampton next time for a confidence booster and he behaved very well - he has been fine at home as well - and I feel he is ready for this step up in class (14.05 Ascot, Saturday). The Sandown race has already worked out and he gets this trip very well - he wouldn't mind some rain as he is a Diktat and they seem happiest with some cut (his sister won a little race for us last year and she liked it soft). He must go there with a very solid chance.

Musaafer 3yo bay gelding
Timeform Rating 100
Formfigures 219-468

Musaafer has been disappointing on the face of things but we had him gelded after his run at the Guineas meeting. It was only a modest effort on his last start but he had been off for a while and I would expect a better showing this time (15.15 Ascot, Saturday). Conditions will be fine for him but I just have it in the back of my mind that he is a bit high in the weights still.

Yaa Wayl 3yo bay gelding
Timeform Rating 107
Formfigures 242-121

Yaa Wayl is having a very good season already, proving himself to be a real 7f specialist. The 3lb penalty he picked up for his Newbury win means he has to give weight to William's (Haggas) horse (Tagseed) and this is always a very hot race, but this is the month where the 3yos really come into their own in handicaps and he must have a good each-way chance this time.

Yashrid 3yo bay gelding
Timeform Rating 92
Formfigures 593121

For those in the yard who know Yashrid he has been a revelation this year. He was tiny as a 2yo and was unraced - he was some way down the pecking order at home - but he grew a bit over the winter and his attitude has stood him in really good stead this year. This (17.35 Ascot, Saturday) will be his stiffest test to date but the conditions should suit him and he is in top form at home.

Timeform View

Richard Fahey's view that Chiswick Bey is well treated is certainly backed up by the Timeform handicapper, who has the son of Elusive City 3lb clear of his nearest rival, and a further 4lb clear of the third top-rated. With trip and ground looking sure to suit, he should be able to continue the trainer's golden run in nurseries.
