BAGS

Ed Nicholson takes a look at the BAGS action today and spots two greyhounds at his beloved Colwick Park to follow tonight.....
I expect Romeo ORourke to land this before going onto bigger and better things. He has a touch of class, and should not be opposed in this A4 today at anything down to [3.0].
Romeo ORourke (Nottingham 6.44pm) is a greyhound destined to go places at Nottingham and he is expected to notch up win number two at Colwick Park in what his only sixth contest at Nottingham this evening.
This 2007 July whelp has awesome early speed, something which will see him in good stead at Nottingham over the next few months. As he gets older his stamina should improve, but at present, he seems to find the 500m a little hard - he is gasping for air close home and is suspectible to a fast finishing hound. But he recently made practically all to win in a grade higher last time and should stay better the older he gets.
Romeo ORourke has never not been in the lead coming off the second bend at Nottingham, and he should do so again here. His recent 5.22 second sectional would be good enough to see him lead his field here and I can see him making all tonight - even in this higher A4 grade.
Although drawn in five, he should still have enough early speed to get past the trap four inside him and he should have to much pace for the striped jacketed runner around the early turns. If anything he may have more to fear from the fast finishing trap three dog, Forza Melody, but that one may not find it easy to get a run around the opening bends. I expect Romeo ORourke to land this before going onto bigger and better things. He has a touch of class, and should not be opposed in this A4 today at anything down to [3.0].
Coolbeggan Tommy (Nottingham 7.32pm) has only raced three times at Nottingham but trialled into top grade straight away - he has already been successful in A1 company and he can make another winning appearance in that grade this evening. The Droopys Maldini 2007 whelp is not the fastest away from the boxes in this field but a 5.27 shows he is not slow either! But as long as he navigates a safe passage around the first couple of bends, he should be in pole position to take up the running down the back straight before asserting in the home run. Given his trap draw in the coffin box (trap four) I wouldn't want to be taking too short a price - so don't take anything less than [5.0].
