Ready for a socially-distanced Strictly?

The line-up for the 2020 edition of the BBC show has been revealed and it features actors, comedians, popstars, politicians and more. Max Liu discusses the early odds...

"There are fewer contestants and it’s been reported that the show will run from 24th October to 19th December - meaning it would last for nine weeks (it usually runs for 13)."

Maisie Smith 3.1511/5 is the early favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing 2020 after all 12 contestants were revealed for this year's show.

Like almost everything else in 2020, this year's Strictly will be different. There are fewer contestants and it's been reported that the show will run from 24th October to 19th December - meaning it would last for nine weeks (it usually runs for 13).

Smith is an actress and singer, best known for playing the role of Tiffany Butcher-Baker in EastEnders and Exchange punters have an inkling she'll be good on the dancefloor this autumn.

Can Max George emulate Jay McGuiness?

Also expected to throw some nifty shapes are Max George 5.59/2, who was in the band Wanted, and popstar HRVY 6.05/1. In 2015, former-Wanted member Jay McGuiness won Strictly so this year George's has a lot to live up to.

TV personality and entrepreneur Jamie Laing 8.07/1 had to pull out last year through injury - eventually making way for 2019 winner Kelvin Fletcher - but Laing gets his chance this year.

Olympic boxer Nicola Adams 9.417/2 is sure to be determined and possess some quick footwork, while NFL fans will look forward to seeing ex-Dallas Cowboy Jason Bell 20.019/1.

Radio 1's Clara Amfo might surprises a few people 22.021/1, while TV presenter and former-marine JJ Chalmers is 30.029/1 and political journalist Ranvir Singh is trading at 50.049/1.

More surprises than last year?

More, um, senior contestants include the comedian Bill Bailey 50.049/1, actor Caroline Quentin 36.035/1 and Jacqui Smith 70.069/1 who becomes latest ex-politician to take part, following in the footsteps of Ed Balls and Vince Cable.

Punters aren't giving that trio much chance but, as we know, Strictly can be full of surprises.

Last year, once the show got underway, Fletcher was a post to post winner, so this bettors might be hoping for a little more drama in 2020.
