The odds on Ronnie O'Sullivan winning SPOTY shortened after his latest triumph but Tyson Fury still favourite in a surprisingly strong year...
"Tyson Fury 2.942/1 remains the favourite to win SPOTY at the end of 2020, while Lewis Hamilton 4.77/2 is just ahead of O'Sullivan in the betting."
Ronnie O'Sullivan is 4.84/1 on the Exchange to win Sports Personality of the Year after he claimed the sixth World Championship of his snooker career at the Sheffield Crucible on Sunday.
Boxer Tyson Fury 2.942/1 remains the favourite to win SPOTY at the end of 2020, while Lewis Hamilton 4.77/2 is just ahead of O'Sullivan in the betting.
As well as betting on the winner of SPOTY you can also bet on who you think will make the top three.
Rocketmania breaks the internet
There was a bout of Rocketmania on Friday night on social media, as O'Sullivan came from the brink of defeat to win his semi-final against Mark Selby.
Afterwards, Selby accused his opponent of being disrespectful, in part due to the way he approached snookers, but most people didn't care and hailed O'Sullivan for his bottle and revolutionary playing-style.
On Sunday, O'Sullivan saw off Kyren Wilson 18-8 in the final. It was his 37th ranking title for O'Sullivan and a new record, surpassing Stephen Hendry's 36.
World heavyweight champion Fury has been favourite to win SPOTY ever since his sensational victory over Deontay Wilder in February.
Since then Hamilton, who yesterday won the Spanish Grand Prix, has cemented his claim while Marcus Rashford also gained support for his off the football field activities. The Manchester United forward is 6.611/2.
The contest looks to be all about Fury, Hamilton and O'Sullivan though. Hamilton is 1.111/9 to win what would be a record-equalling seventh Drivers' Championship this season, and if those odds prove to be correct then there will be three world champions in contention for SPOTY.
Not bad for a year in which there's been unprecedented disruption to the sporting calendar.
