Tom Brady has had his worst start to an NFL season

Week Nine is here and Paul Higham is backing bounce back wins for Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers after their worst ever starts...

  • Eagles start 8-0 for first time in their history
  • Tom Brady backed to bag welcome win after worst start
  • Rodgers & Packers facing must-win game in Detroit

Los Angeles Rams (3-4) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5)

Match Odds: 6/5 | 4/6
Spread: Bucs -3
O/U: 42.5

We'd circled a meeting between the last two Super Bowl winners as a game of the season when the schedule came out, but both of these two look in all kinds of trouble.

The Rams could, and perhaps should, have been Tom Brady's final NFL opponent as he retired after losing last year's brilliant play-off game against them in January - he probably wishes he'd stayed retired right now.

Defending champs LA were taken to the cleaners by the 49ers yet again last week, while also picking up an injury to top receiver Cooper Kupp that could make this mess of an offence even worse.

Their heads will still be spinning as they make the long cross country trip to a side desperate for a win - and who didn't play that bad against Baltimore last Thursday - so we'll back Brady to finally have something to smile about in a tight one.

Bet: Bucs win & under 42.5pts

11/5

Green Bay Packers (3-5) @ Detroit Lions (1-6)

Match Odds: 1/2 | 8/5
Spread: Packers -3.5
O/U: 49.5

If the Packers can't beat the lowly Lions in Detroit then Aaron Rodgers may has well go hang it up now as there'll be no real chance of making the play-offs this year.

Rodgers needs to start slinging the ball a bit more, and against one of the league's worst pass defences this is a great chance to get his mojo back. The team still need a large dose of Aaron Jones though throwin into the mix.

Detroit have looked terrific at times this season with their offence, but defensively they're shocking - and all three Green Bay wins have come against losing teams so this is one of the best get-right games you could find.

Bet: Packers -3.5 to beat the Lions

9/10

Miami Dolphins (5-3) @ Chicago Bears (3-5)

Match Odds: 1/2 | 8/5
Spread: Dolphins -4.5
O/U: 45.5

Miami's only three defeats have all come without Tua Tagovailoa playing a full game, and he's coming off one of the best of his career last week. His receivers Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle's combined 1,688 yards are the most by a team's duo after eight games of a season in NFL history.

The Bears have shown signs of life on offence recently and they do measure up well to trouble Miami with a mobile QB in Justin Fields and top run game, but the Fins look too good and considering how these two have played recently, the points total looks a tad low.

Bet: Dolphins to win & Over 44.5pts

17/10

Buffalo Bills (6-1) @ New York Jets (5-3)

Match Odds: 1/6 | 21/5
Spread: Bills -11.5
O/U: 45.5

The Bills and Eagles are the best teams in the NFL right now, but this Jets defence is the real deal so Josh Allen may have to work harder than ever this season to get the job done.

However, he may not have to put up too many points given how bad Jets QB Zach Wilson has been, and how bad he is under pressure, where the Bills defence excels. New York at home could make this tough enough for us to go low on the total - and that usually means taking the points on offer.

Bet: Bills to win & under 47.5pts

11/10

Tenessee Titans (5-2) @ Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)

Match Odds: 15/4 | 2/11
Spread: Chiefs -12.5
O/U: 45.5

The Titans have a scary defensive front and a scary running back in Derrick Henry so even without a serviceable quarterback they can keep this one a bit closer than you'd think.

Patrick Mahomes will pick apart the Titans as they bring pressure, so there's no danger of an upset, just a slight concern that Mike Vrabel will continue to run the ball even if Tennessee are down and not give KC the chance to cover.

Bet: Chiefs to win by 1-13pts

8/5

Seattle Seahawks (5-3) @ Arizona Cardinals (3-5)

Match Odds: 11/10 | 3/4
Spread: Cardinals -1.5
U/O 48.5

Arizona have DeAndre Hopkins back after he missed Seattle's win a few weeks ago, but the Seahawks also look a better outfit - Geno Smith continues to impress and rookie running back Kenneth Walker looks the business.

There's still just too many question marks over Arizona with Kyler Murray and coach Kilff Kingsbury clashing on the sidelines recently. Seattle are a great bet straight up here.

Bet: Seahawks to beat the Cardinals

11/10
