Two of today's tips run at Bangor

Timeform highlight three horses of interest at Bangor and Ayr on Wednesday.

  • Richmond Lake well handicapped on return

  • Lundi Noir open to more improvement on third run

  • Disco Davis can build on encouraging reappearance

14:00, Bangor - Richmond Lake potentially well treated on return from wind op

This handicap chase features a former winner, Le Milos, as well as last year's runner-up Pull Again Green, but it looks worth taking a chance on Richmond Lake with Donald McCain's gelding returning on an attractive mark.

Richmond Lake ended last season out of sorts, with his jumping letting him down in the Ultima at Cheltenham before shaping as if amiss after initially looking a big threat in another premier handicap at Aintree.

But he returns here on the back of a breathing operation and had several good runs to his name in defeat otherwise last season, including when making the frame in the Grand Sefton at Aintree and the Peter Marsh at Haydock. Off a 5 lb lower mark here, he heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings by 3 lb and any further rain at Bangor is all to the good as Richmond Lake goes well in testing conditions.

14:20, Ayr - Form working out well for unexposed Lundi Noir

Tom Lacey has had three winners from his seven runners at Ayr over the last five seasons and the Herefordshire trainer can strike at the Scottish track again with unexposed four-year-old Lundi Noir in the handicap hurdle over two and a half miles.

Lundi Noir has had just the two starts over hurdles and was well backed for his debut when winning in ready fashion at Market Rasen in February after a good round of jumping. Returning from eight months off, he then shaped well in a handicap at Chepstow in October, doing well considering his inexperience to finish third in a big field behind another unexposed type in Got A Dream after being close up jumping the last.

Lundi Noir earned the 'Horse In Focus' flag for that effort, and the form has been boosted since by the pair who beat him, with the winner following up at Warwick and runner-up Dirty Den finishing a good second at Exeter. Open to further improvement, Lundi Noir also heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings.

16:00, Bangor - Disco Davis the pick of Harry Skelton from stable's quartet

Dan Skelton has four runners in the concluding handicap hurdle on Bangor's card, including useful mare Honky Tonk Highway who looks open to further improvement after just three runs over hurdles.

But at the foot of the weights, one of her stablemates Disco Davis makes plenty of appeal too, especially as the pick of Harry Skelton. Disco Davis also has the advantage of a recent run and it was an encouraging reappearance at Uttoxeter last month. After travelling well under a patient ride, Disco Davis was short of room a couple of times in the closing stages but kept on for fourth behind Dargiannini, beaten just a length and a half.

That earned Disco Davis the 'Horse In Focus' flag, and with that run under his belt, he's very much one to be interested in off the same mark here.
