Timeform pick out the horses to note at Kempton

Timeform highlight three horses of interest at Kempton on Wednesday.

  • Homme de Fer won with a bit in hand last time

  • Maid In Chelsea arrives on back of good effort

  • Lawmans Blis bounced back to form last time

Kempton, 18:00 - Top-rated Homme de Fer's form is working out

Homme de Fer wasn't seen to best effect when only fourth in a seven-furlong handicap here on his penultimate start as he failed to get any cover from the outside stall.

However, he had a more favourable passage at Lingfield last time, and he quickened up well from off the pace to hit the front inside the final half-furlong.

He appeared to idle after hitting the front so was value for more than the winning margin of a neck, while it's worth noting the form has worked out well with the third and fourth both winning next time out. He still looks fairly treated following a 3 lb rise and heads Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings by 2 lb.

Kempton, 19:00 - Top-rated Maid In Chelsea can capitalise on reduced mark

Maid In Chelsea failed to win in 2025 but she slipped in the weights as a consequence and left the impression she's in good enough form to take advantage of her reduced mark when runner-up in a seven-furlong handicap here last week.

Maid In Chelsea found only a well-treated rival who was dropping in grade too strong, and she deserves credit for finishing three and a half lengths clear of the third, especially as she raced closer to the strong pace than ideal.

The big question here is whether she can prove as effective over a mile, but she looks worth siding with off the same mark as last week, and she heads Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings by 3 lb.

Kempton, 20:30 - Top-rated Lawmans Blis worth chance to build on latest effort

Lawmans Blis had been struggling but returned to form from out of the blue to finish runner-up in a classified stakes at Southwell last week.

The drop in trip and removal of headgear seemed to have a positive impact on Lawmans Blis who was no match for the decisive winner but was five lengths clear of the third.

He re-enters handicap company from a lowly mark and heads Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings by 3 lb based on the form he showed at Southwell. He was disappointing last year but it's worth noting that he's 16 lb lower than when last successful a couple of seasons ago so is potentially very leniently treated if able to recapture that sort of form.
