13:25, Lingfield - Top-rated Valiant Force fancied to notch another small-field win

He probably didn't beat much of note earlier this month, but one-time Norfolk Stakes winner Valiant Force has an excellent record in small-field events on the all-weather, so his claims appear to be the most compelling, especially having proven his wellbeing with that recent win at Dundalk.

The Robson De Aguiar-trained five-year-old - who is 3 lb clear on Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings - now has five wins in fields of five or less since landing that Group 2 at Royal Ascot in 2023.

His biggest rival looks to be Diligent Harry who showed himself to be as good as ever when dead-heating here last time and he won this race under a penalty (when it was run at Southwell) in 2024.

14:00, Lingfield - Burke to land Winter Derby for second year in a row

A competitive Group 3 which features runners from the two yards that have won five of the last seven renewals. Karl Burke took it 12 months ago with Royal Champion and he saddles Boiling Point this year.

The Too Darn Hot five-year-old produced a performance verging on very smart when landing the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket in September, which suggests he's more than capable of making the breakthrough at this level.

Top on Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings, and representing a yard that currently has the 'Hot Trainer' flag, Boiling Point could take some pegging back if able to wrestle the early initiative from Nebras.

15:35, Kempton - 'Horse In Focus' Kdeux Saint Fray gets the nod

Low-mileage six-year-old Kdeux Saint Fray has more to offer over fences and he makes plenty of appeal tackling three miles for the first time.

The Anthony Honeyball-trained gelding won well at Cheltenham in November and shaped better than the bare result when a staying-on 5 lengths fourth to stable-companion Jordans Cross in the Timeform Novices' Handicap there last time, finishing with running left after being hampered at a vital stage.

He remains with potential as a chaser and is fancied to see off last year's winner Katate Dori who has proved better than ever this season and will likely make a bold bid to defend his crown despite this 11 lb higher perch.
