Sam Turner has three tips for Saturday

Betfair tipster Sam Turner returns to look at racing on Saturday, with selections at Kempton and Lingfield...

  • Back Bald to record another hair-raising victory

  • Make Charlie's your Choice in Lingfield finale

  • Course winner Willie can score for Williams

Lingfield, 15.00 - Back Baldomero @ 11/53.20

The decision to drop Baldomero to the minimum trip has contributed to the gelding's recent resurgence and the eight-year-old has a live chance of completing a rapid hat-trick here.

Trainer Mick Appleby also switched up the selection's headgear which has also been a catalyst to better performances, more evidence of which came on New Year's Eve when Baldomero did well to lift a similar handicap after meeting trouble in running.

For a five runner affair, the eight-year-old found precious little daylight in the straight, but Harry Davies did well to discover a seam late on and the duo burst through to hit the front in the shadows of the post.

The presence of confirmed front runner Accrual - himself a winner at today's venue earlier in the week - should give Baldomero a target to aim at in the straight, especially if Twilight Jet also tries to ensure there is a frenetic pace, and he ought to be in the mix once again.

Lingfield, 15.38 - Back Charlie's Choice @ 15/82.88

Following a quiet spell in the saddle, young apprentice Taryn Langley began 2026 with a bang courtesy of a double at Lingfield last Saturday.

Her regular steed Charlie's Choice contributed to one half of the brace courtesy of an impressive defeat of Kimeko Glory, a victory which saw the six-year-old nudged up 5lbs by the handicapper for his smooth two-and-a-half length success.

Surprisingly, that was the six-year-old's first win at today's venue at the eighth time of asking, but he boasts an excellent record when returned to the track swiftly as wins following absences of just six, nine (twice) and eleven days suggests.

A genuine pace is essential to a prominent showing from the son of Lightning Spear so fingers crossed Raintown, Connie Moon and Wonder combine to set an end-to-end gallop and there is a pace collapse late on, a scenario which would be ideal for Charlie's Choice.

Kempton, 15.53 - Back Williethebuilder @ 3/14.00

There wouldn't be many horses that would win upon leaving Dan Skelton, but Williethebuilder bucked that trend with a decisive course and distance success a fortnight ago.

The seven-year-old had hinted that his time in the winner's enclosure was impending when staying on tidily to take third at Windsor back in November, a view that was endorsed with another fine effort behind the well handicapped Lanesborough at Doncaster.

The selection struggled to match the winner's acceleration and gear change that day, however he managed to score himself just after Christmas, quickening well after the last to beat a small, but select field in ready fashion.

On the face of it, an 8lb rise did look a touch excessive, but the smooth travelling Williethebuilder still won with a degree of authority despite missing out the last hurdle and, given he was allowed to coast home in the last 100 yards, maybe the imposte wasn't quite so unfair.
