Ryan Moore Saturday Rides Preview: Thoughts on my five at Newmarket

Ryan Moore
Can Ryan score a winner or two at Newmarket on Saturday?

There's good racing at Newmarket on Saturday including a Cesarewitch trial. Ryan Moore will be on board five horses on the day and you can read about the quintet here...

"Themaxwecan is on a decent mark then and will love the ground, so he has a chance if showing a bit more than he has done of late."

I'm probably on the one to beat

14:05, Monsoon Moon

I didn't ride her on her debut, or in the race either, but she clearly looks to have shaped okay in third at Ascot. You would hope and expect the race will have brought her on, and this sister to Logician is probably the one to beat on what we know going into the race.

Fairly handicapped so in with a chance

15:15, Blue Skyline

I rode him when he won in soft ground on the July course here last time and he did it nicely enough, though I think the first-time blinkers here could well bring about some improvement in him. It will be much different ground here, so that is a question mark, but I do think he remains fairly handicapped off a 4lb higher mark.

Handicapper finally relenting

15:50, Themaxwecan

He has yet to build on his good fourth at Royal Ascot but he can now race off a 4lb lower mark here after the handicapper has finally begun to relent to any meaningful level. He is on a decent mark then and will love the ground, so he has a chance if showing a bit more than he has done of late.

Improving filly could snare this handicap

16:25, Angel Fairy

This is quite a hard handicap to call in spite of the fact that there are only five runners, but my filly has improved in each of her four starts. I was actually on the board the winner when she was narrowly beaten over 1m2f at Sandown last time and her pedigree gives you plenty of hope she will stay this extra 2f, for all she is by Dark Angel.

Some pointers to a win for Dulas

17:00, Dulas

We haven't seen him since he disappointed when made favourite over 7f at Doncaster back in June, but maybe we just didn't see the best of him there. He won over this trip at Newcastle last season, a victory on which he looks to be on a fair mark. He is related to some decent winners, too.
