Betfair Ambassador Ryan Moore discusses his six rides at Sandown on Sunday with his first ride of the afternoon a leading contender...

13:25 - Maximal

"Hopefully, he will have learned plenty (from his previous run) and this beautifully-bred Galileo colt is clearly one of the leading contenders here."

Promising colt is leading contender

13:25 - Maximal

He was due to run in the Convivial at York on Friday, but the rain came, so hopefully it is decent ground here. Everyone saw how promising he was on his debut when just touched off at Newbury, in which he travelled into his race really well and was only narrowly denied. I am not sure how strong the form is, as the placed horses have been beaten since in winnable races - but, against that, the fourth and fifth have come out and won - but what is important is how he has benefited from his initial run. Hopefully, he will have learned plenty and this beautifully-bred Galileo colt is clearly one of the leading contenders here.

A chance to show he's got more to offer

14:30 - Davydenko

He obviously did very well last season, but he has not shone in two starts in this campaign. But he had been gelded, wears a first-time visor and has come down 2lb in the weights, so let's hope that those combination of factors will see him show us more here.

Leading player

15:05 - Quadrilateral

This looks a competitive Group 3 but she obviously has strong form claims. She has been placed in the Guineas and the Coronation Stakes and, while those runs are probably a shade below her Group 1-winning juvenile form, they clearly make her a leading player, down in grade.

Could challenge a worthy favourite

15:40 - Dark Lion

Dubai Fountain is probably the one to beat here as she sets the form standard but Dark Lion is not that far behind her on his Coventry fourth and he ran okay in the Vintage Stakes last time.

Going in the right direction

16:50 - A La Viole

This is the first time I have ridden her but she is clearly progressing well, though she did get put up 6lb for her Windsor win. But this well-bred filly is going the right way and is hopefully better than her revised mark of 84.

Needs to rediscover last season's form

17:20 - Calculation

He clearly didn't show his best when last at Newmarket in June but the ground and track may not have suited him there - and he needed it, too - and he has been given a break since, and he has also come down 3lb in the weights. If recapturing his winning form of last season, he has his chance but he clearly needs to show more than he did on his comeback run. But there were excuses there.
