Betfair Ambassador Paul Nicholls is enjoying a well-earned holiday, but he still has one runner this afternoon in the shape of last season's Welsh National runner-up Hawkes Point, and here you can read Paul's exclusive thoughts...

15:35 Warwick - Hawkes Point

"The only upside of that outing is that he can race off a 6lb lower mark here, and we know that a test of stamina on soft ground suits him well."

Was just touched off in the Welsh National last season and we thought he went back to Chepstow with another decent chance last month, only for him to run no sort of race - he didn't get off to the best of starts, which didn't help - with Sean eventually pulling him up. The only upside of that outing is that he can race off a 6lb lower mark here, and we know that a test of stamina on soft ground suits him well.

And I hope that the first-time blinkers suit him as well as they did the likes of Mon Parrain and our Welsh National runner-up Benvolio recently. If they do, then he has a winning chance off this mark. But you do have to forgive him that disappointing Chepstow run.
