On the face of it, Rogue Bullet hasn't really kicked on after winning his first start for the James Owen stable at Brighton in June, but he's had plausible excuses for both defeats since and I'm confident he can get back on track here.

Previously trained by Jack Jones, Rogue Bullet isn't the first and certainly won't be the last to be revitalised by a switch to the Owen yard, and the move paid instant dividends as he went in at the Sussex venue first up for his new trainer.

He was then caught away from the main action when beaten at Lingfield next time, while a step up to 0-85 company at Newmarket last time was perhaps flying a shade too high.

Rogue Bullet is back down in grade here and will take all the beating under top weight.

Mark Milligan's Bet of the Day: Chepstow 19:05 - Back Windbreaker @ 5/23.50

William Haggas is a rare visitor to Chepstow with his runners, so it's with interest that I note he's prepared to send the three-year-old Windbreaker on the long journey to South Wales to take on some exposed, older runners in this ordinary handicap.

The son of Sea The Stars has been rather keen to date, but there are signs that the ability is there once he learns to drop his head and get into more of a rhythm.

He may be still a maiden after six starts, but he's been primarily campaigned over 1m 2f so far this season and, while posting some solid efforts in defeat, has been just a shade too free to take the step up required to notch that first success.

A drop down to 1m here should help in that regard and he does have a classy pedigree to call on.

I'm hopeful today is the day he finally starts living up to it.

Sandown 19:23 - Back Ascending Star @ 5/23.50

I was a tad disappointed that Ascending Star couldn't get the job done when put up as a selection in this column a few weeks ago, but he hasn't been with the Owen Burrows yard long and there's plenty of time for him to build on the Lingfield success that came on his first start for this yard.

Ascending Star made just two starts for James Owen as a juvenile before joining Burrows for his three-year-old campaign, where he travelled nicely on his stable debut to settle things from the front in a 7.5f Lingfield novice.

Stepped up a little in trip to 1m at Sandown most recently, he perhaps did a touch too much in front that day, and this drop back to 7f looks a shrewd move given how he went through that Lingfield race.

Still unexposed after just four starts, I'm confident Ascending Star can get back on track this time.

Daniel & Claire Kubler may have moved the core of their training operation to Bahrain, but they have maintained a small string in this country and currently have their horses in rude health (31% S/R in last 14 days).

One of their recent winners was Clementine's Star, who is bidding to follow up her success in a small-field maiden at Thirsk three weeks ago.

Although that clearly wasn't the most competitive affair, the form looks okay, with the second going on to run well and fill the same position on her following start, while this filly is related to several winners and doesn't look to be overburdened on her handicap debut from a mark of just 69.

A few of these have been disappointing of late, so it may be another recent winner, Jackabi, who poses the biggest threat.
