Horse Racing tipster Katie Midwinter has selections at Ayr, Southwell and Dundalk on the Betfair Sportsbook this Tuesday...

  • Katie Midwinter has selections at three tracks on Tuesday

  • Chasing debutant has noteworthy point form

  • Unexposed colt could improve on latest effort

Ayr, 14:18 - Back Dedicated Hero @ 9/110.00

Sandy Thomson-trained Dedicated Hero makes his chasing debut under Rules but has prior point-to-point experience in his favour as he returns over fences

The seven-year-old had shaped with promise earlier in his career in bumpers and over hurdles, landing a Grade Two Haydock prize last season, but hasn't been quite at his best in recent runs and a change in challenge could spark some improvement.

The four-time winner finished a seven-length third to subsequent Grade One winner Romeo Coolio in a Belclare point, before fetching £40,000 at the Goffs UK Spring sale.

With noteworthy point form and chasers in the family, the best could be yet to come from Dedicated Hero over the larger obstacles. He faces stiff opposition in this contest but at a price of 9/110.00, he may be overlooked in this field and warrants consideration.

The yard has a 25 percent strike-rate in novice chases so:

Dundalk, 14:30 - Back Another Day Done @ 15/28.50

Equipped with a first-time visor in this mile handicap, three-year-old colt Another Day Done is one to note for Joseph O'Brien, still unexposed coming into his fifth career outing from a mark of 63.

Although he showed little ability in maiden company at this venue, he was far from disgraced when beaten four-and-a-half-lengths at odds of 33/134.00 on handicap debut over 7f at the track last month and the step up in trip should bring out further improvement from him.

He's by an Arc winner in Sottsass and out of a 7f winning daughter of War Command, Elleanthus, making him a relative to a number of black-type achievers including the likes of capable miler Mountain Bear as well as stayer Moon Daisy.

It could prove worth keeping the faith in the colt who appears to be learning with experience and has the scope for further improvement. Over this extra distance, with the benefit of previous handicap experience, Another Day Done can fare better than when previously seen on the all-weather, and makes appeal.

Dundalk, 16:00 - Back Oh Cecelia @ SP

Three-year-old filly Oh Cecelia could return to form in this 6f sprint, making the most appeal under 3lb claimer Jack Kearney from a rating of 72.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner is 4lb lower than when third in a Fairyhouse handicap in September, when outrunning odds of 14/115.00 when equipped with cheekpieces, which are back on here, and can fare better than her latest run now in much calmer waters.

Trained by Jack Davison, Oh Cecelia landed a Cork maiden over a field including now 97-rated Rogue Legend and 80-rated Raphello last spring, before being upped to Group Three company in the hugely competitive Albany Stakes. She was unable to make an impression at Royal Ascot, but had already shaped with plenty of potential with her success at the Mallow which followed a close second to now 81-rated Miami Destination on debut at the Curragh.

From a workable mark, Oh Cecelia warrants consideration as she seeks a second career success. She has the scope for further progression and could take a step forward from her recent all-weather debut in this contest.

Southwell, 18:30 - Back Showtime Mahomes @ 6/17.00

Course-and-distance winner Showtime Mahomes has to defy a 4lb penalty for his recent course-and-distance win, but should be capable of another bold bid in this drop in class. He impressed to land the spoils at odds of 10/111.00 here last week, having previously caught the eye in defeat behind Zoulu Warrior, who has franked the form, last month.

In the past, he has been able to win from a similar mark at a higher level, therefore still makes appeal and could be worth keeping onside despite the rise in the weights.

The seven-year-old, who is bidding for an eighth career win, is currently in good form, making him the most appealing selection in this line up.

Southwell, 19:30 - Back Juan Les Pins @ 13/27.50

Experienced nine-year-old Juan Les Pins has dropped to a workable mark and was almost able to return to the winners' enclosure for the first time since June 2023 when denied only half-a-length at Newcastle on New Year's Day. He's 1lb higher for that third-placed effort but remains on a workable mark from which he can strike, 14lb below his last win.

Making his 32nd start on an all-weather surface, Juan Les Pins warrants plenty of respect on the back of a promising effort in which he returned to form.

During the summer, he was able to be competitive in an 18-runner York handicap won by Aberama Gold when rated 3lb higher, finishing fifth in his subsequent start on the Knavesmire from the same rating, again holding his own in a big field handicap.

Juan Les Pins has proven he still retains ability and could land win number eight of his career for Mick Appleby in the penultimate race on Southwell's card.
