  • Katie Midwinter has selections across the cards on Thursday

  • Likeable gelding is on a handy mark at Chelmsford

  • Just Gino is one to note on Sedgefield reappearance

Clonmel, 13:47 - Back Pray Tell @ 13/27.50

Nine-year-old gelding Pray Tell won a Grade Three novice hurdle last winter, following two successes in the autumn, shaping with plenty of potential.

The point winner, who also once finished second to Maximilian in a point-to-point, couldn't make any impression when upped into Grade One company at the Dublin Racing Festival, and unseated on his return to handicap company before finishing down the field in a Listed Punchestown Festival handicap behind Jeriko Du Reponet.

It could prove worth keeping the faith in him, however, considering some of the form he has shown previously, and he's one to note on his reappearance for owner-trainer Desmond He's proven at Graded level over further than three miles, and could be capable of showing some further progression.

Whilst Pray Tell hasn't been seen to best effect in recent runs, he was in good form last autumn when also finishing third to D Art D Art, now rated 13lb higher, and this could be an opportunity for him to return to some form.

Sedgefield, 14:30 - Back Just Gino @ 4/15.00

Point winner Just Gino remains yet to win under Rules, but has shaped with potential and was unlucky to be beaten when second to Beat The Edge in a first-time tongue-tie and cheekpieces at Catterick on New Year's Day. He finished third in his subsequent run over the same course-and-distance, putting in a bold bid, hitting the front but passed late on.

From a 1lb lower mark, the son of It's Gino makes each-way appeal under Theo Gillard. This is only his fifth start as a chaser, and he remains open to further improvement. A £100,000 purchase, there should be more to come from Just Gino, who is one to note for Donald McCain as he returns to action.

Chelmsford, 18:15 - Back Pitney E/W @ 40/141.00

Michael Attwater-trained Pitney is now 8lb below his last winning mark when successful at Chester in his final start for Hugo Palmer last autumn.

He beat subsequent winner Pearl Eye on that occasion and, although he is yet to break his duck for his new connections, remains a horse to keep an eye on, particularly considering he shaped better than in previous runs when last seen at Kempton.

Dropping in class that day, he finished fourth at odds of 50/151.00 under Paddy Bradley, who is aboard once again, and, from a 3lb lower mark, could be capable of making the frame as he steps back up to a mile.

The son of Mehmas has dropped 12lb since his debut run for his current yard. Things haven't been straightforward for him so far this year, but considering he has shown to possess ability in the past, including when third to Frost At Dawn at this venue, it could be too early to give up on the gelding, who makes his 16th start in this contest.

Chelmsford, 19:15 - Back Tyger Bay E/W @ 15/28.50

Likeable Conrad Allen-trained Tyger Bay remains on a handy mark from a rating of 72, capable of posing a threat on a going day.

After a luckless run, he finally returned to the winners' enclosure at Kempton in July at odds of 15/28.50, before doubling up over this course-and-distance from a 4lb higher mark. He was only narrowly denied from his current rating in his penultimate start, before struggling to make an impression in heavy ground at Bath, and, on his return to an all-weather surface, should fare better.

The eight-year-old has been able to put in competitive efforts from higher marks in the past and should run well under Joe Leavy. A course-and-distance winner holds solid claims in this field and can go close.
