  • Katie Midwinter has three all-weather selections on Thursday

  • Showtime for Mahomes at Southwell

  • Course-and-distance winners make appeal at Chelmsford

Southwell, 15:52 - Back Showtime Mahomes E/W @ 5/16.00

Course-and-distance winner Showtime Mahomes was an eyecatcher in defeat at Southwell when last seen, too far back to make an impact when failing to find a clear run in the closing stages but appearing to have plenty of running left in him come the finishing post. He could fare better with a more favourable trip this time around from a 2lb lower mark.

The Grant Tuer-trained contender is now 2lb below his last winning mark at Carlisle in July, 4lb lower than when a 16/117.00 winner here last year. He makes appeal at the weights from a workable mark and should be able to make his presence felt.

The six-year-old has amassed plenty of experience throughout his career and makes his 54th racecourse outing in this 6f sprint. Seeking a seventh success, the son of Dabirsim holds solid claims under Oli Stammers and can put in a bold bid at a price of 5/16.00.

Chelmsford, 19:30 - Back Tyger Bay E/W @ 12/113.00

Course-and-distance winner Tyger Bay can pose a threat from a rating of 73 in this competitive 6f sprint under George Wood. The Conrad Allen-trained contender is 5lb higher than his previous winning mark at the track but has been able to put in competitive efforts from higher ratings in the past.

The eight-year-old was only narrowly denied from a rating of 80 in a Kempton contest last year, and was able to perform with credit when suffering a luckless trip at the same venue in this class later in the season.

Generally a consistent performer, Tyger Bay has often been unlucky to lose in his races, finding traffic or coming too late with a run on multiple occasions. If able to enjoy a favourable trip on this occasion, he holds leading claims and shouldn't be discounted at a price of 12/113.00.

Chelmsford, 20:00 - Back Riot E/W @ 25/126.00

Experienced performer Riot is no forlorn hope at odds of 25/126.00 in the penultimate race on the card at Chelmsford.

This is his second start for the Charlie Wallis yard and he can prove better than shown on stable debut at Kempton earlier this month. He made little impression when sent off at odds of 80/181.00 that day, but remains well treated at the weights and cannot be ruled out.

At Wolverhampton in October, Riot recorded his eighth career success when representing David O'Meara, prevailing at odds of 11/112.00 when rated 73. Only 3lb higher here, he remains on a workable rating from which he can make his presence felt and is one to note each-way.

The son of Kingman has been able to hold his own in deeper company during recent campaigns and has won from a much higher rating. He's a course-and-distance winner who has amassed plenty of valuable experience at the track during his career to date, and warrants consideration in the hands of George Wood.
