Ayr, 14:00 - Back The Caltonian E/W @ 14/115.00

Linda Perratt-trained The Caltonian makes appeal from a mark of 67 under Clifford Lee in this competitive 5f handicap at Ayr.

He's seeking his first win on Turf from a 22lb lower rating than his all-weather mark, but shouldn't be discounted despite failing to win on this surface in 24 starts to date, following on from a creditable third-placed effort behind Mr Cool at Redcar last month.

Having been competitive and made the frame on Turf previously, a win in this sphere is within the seven-year-old gelding's capabilities, and he may be worth keeping the faith in.

Yarmouth, 14:15 - Back Casablanca Dream E/W @ 11/26.50

Making her first appearance in handicap company, No Nay Never filly Casablanca Dream is an interesting contender in the field for trainer Marco Botti, who is currently performing at a 28 percent strike-rate in recent weeks, with Oisin Murphy in the saddle for the first time.

This is her fourth career start following three appearances in novice and maiden company in which she has been unable to make a serious impression but was far from disgraced in a contest won by Norham, who has franked the form, at Lingfield in August.

Stepping up to a mile from an opening mark of 56, the juvenile could be dangerous and may fare better than in her previous runs. She's out of a Listed winner over 1m7f in Danehill Dancer mare Shamanova, who also made the frame in Group company over a shorter distance, therefore could be suited by this assignment as she bids to get off the mark.

Ayr, 15:00 - Back Glittering Surf E/W @ 16/117.00

Handicap debutante Glittering Surf must improve on her reappearance effort in a Listed Kempton contest during the spring in her first run following wind surgery here. She shaped with promise during the early days of her career and has appeared in three Stakes contests, therefore could be capable of outrunning her odds from a mark of 92 in handicap company.

Making only her sixth start in this contest, the best could be yet to come from the four-year-old daughter of Oasis Dream as she bids to get back on track for Owen Burrows and the in-form Callum Rodriguez. The step up in trip and drop in class could allow her to improve on her latest effort, and she warrants consideration.

Pontefract, 16:08 - Back Perfect Part E/W @ 14/115.00

Still seeking a first win since her debut shock success at odds of 125/1126.00, four-year-old filly Perfect Part could be worth keeping onside having caught the eye on multiple occasions since, often luckless in competitive handicaps when appearing to hold solid claims.

This is a drop back down in class for the filly and, from a mark of 80 at this level with cheekpieces reapplied, she should put in a threatening effort.

On a workable mark currently having been rated as high as 95 during her career, the Brian Ellison-trained contender is one to note each-way and could finally return to the winners' enclosure in her 22nd career outing.

Notable winners from Katie in recent weeks

Bet of the day: Yarmouth, 17:15 - Back Dashing Dick E/W @ 9/110.00

This could be the time for Dashing Dick to strike as he drops back down in class from a mark of 67, 7lb lower than his last win, at a course where he has proven winning form. He hasn't been seen to best effect in recent outings on the July Course, despite enjoying himself there in the past, but has been given a chance at the weights and appears on a lenient rating if able to return to his best.

Last autumn at this venue, Dashing Dick put in two competitive efforts for William Stone, including when third in a 13-runner handicap behind Lord Montague, and has amassed plenty of course experience over the years recording form figures of 3213432235.

With plenty in his favour, the experienced eight-year-old could land a sixth career win in his 67th and should be able to make his presence felt in this field under Jack Mitchell.
