Joseph O'Brien discusses the chances of his runners on a busy Saturday at Navan and Gowran Park as well as a couple at Listowel on Sunday...
"This probably represents her best chance to win one and hopefully she can get the job done, as she deserves to win one at this stage."
Saturday - Navan
This could be the one for Risk Factor
12:40 - Risk Factor and Land Jet
Risk Factor was a smart horse in bumpers, winning at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting and finishing second in a Grade 2 contest at the Dublin Racing Festival. He jumped solid in the main on his hurdling debut at the Galway Festival, but made a tired mistake at the last and unseated JJ. That experience should bring him on and he should be well up to winning a maiden hurdle. Hopefully this will be the one!
Land Jet is a reserve and will need to improve a lot to get involved if he gets in.
Chance to put disappointments behind him
16:05 - Touch Of Oscar
Touch Of Oscar has been a bit disappointing over fences to date, but he has the ability to win a race like this. This course, distance and ground will all suit and hopefully he'll be competitive.
Gowran Park - Saturday
14:00 - Boyne River
This looks an above-average fillies' maiden, but Boyne River ran a lovely race to finish second at Cork last time and that entitles her to be competitive. This stiffer track should play to her strengths and hopefully she'll run a big race. She's a nice prospect for next season.
Big race could be on the cards
14:35 - Grid
Grid is a lovely horse that raced much more greenly than we expected on debut. He wasn't able to do himself justice at all and we think he is a lot better than he showed there. His work has been good since then and he gives every impression of having progressed. This is a good maiden, but it wouldn't surprise to see him run a big race.
Hoping for the best
16:20 - Keep Believing
Keep Believing has been a bit disappointing since joining us, particularly so on his latest start. He would most likely prefer a softer surface than this, but it isn't easy getting into races with horses like him, so we'll let him take his chance and hope for the best.
Two winless runners heading in the right direction
16:55 - Crotchet and A New Dawn
Crotchet and A New Dawn are in a similar boat in that they have both picked up valuable black type by finishing in the frame in stakes races, but neither of them have won one yet. That was the big goal with the two of them starting this year. Both should be suited by conditions in this race and we'll be hoping they can go well given that this doesn't look like an overly-strong Group 3.
18:00 - Zofar Zogood
Zofar Zogood has finished second in her last three starts and has been doing very little wrong. This probably represents her best chance to win one and hopefully she can get the job done, as she deserves to win one at this stage.
Sunday - Listowel
Chance to make further progress
13:35 - Scholastic
Scholastic ran a solid race over hurdles last time. She is taking on a few previous winners here, but gets plenty of weight from them and will hopefully take a step in the right direction.
A great chance
16:15 - Anything Will Do
We were very happy with Anything Will Do's performance when he made a winning chasing debut at Killarney last time. His jumping was very good and on the whole it was a very likeable start. There aren't loads of options for a horse like him at this time of year, so we are having to drop right back in trip with him. He has never looked shy of pace, so hopefully he'll be effective over this distance. He looks to have a great chance.
