After landing the Group 1 Fillies' Mile on Friday Joseph O'Brien is out for more big-race success on Saturday. Here are his thoughts on his four runners on the afternoon...
"It looks a fantastic renewal of the race and hopefully our fella will be heavily involved in the finish."
- Joseph O'Brien on Thunder Moon
Dewhurst the natural step and we're very hopeful
Newmarket 14:55 - Thunder Moon
Thunder Moon has excited us from when he did his first bit of serious work and he has delivered in no uncertain terms on the track. He was impressive in a barrier trial at Dundalk and when making a winning racecourse debut at the Curragh in August. We asked him a big question when supplementing him for the National Stakes and he answered it in the best possible way. He got knocked sideways just over a furlong out and that really should have ended his winning chance, but he showed a really impressive turn of foot to recover from that and draw away to win well.
This race looked the natural next step for him and it's a real thrill to have a leading contender for a race like the Dewhurst. I walked the track on Friday and was pleasantly surprised with the ground, as I feared it might be softer than ideal for Thunder Moon on Saturday. It should dry out even more between now and then, so hopefully he won't have any excuses on that front. It looks a fantastic renewal of the race and hopefully our fella will be heavily involved in the finish.
Can run a big race with trip in his favour
Fairyhouse 14:05 - Anything Will Do
We were delighted with Anything Will Do when he made a winning chasing debut at Killarney in August. Our options for him were limited after that, so we took a chance and dropped him right back in trip for a novice chase at Listowel. The trip proved too sharp for him and the return to this sort of trip should suit him well. I'd be hopeful that he can run a big race.
Needs to improve a lot
Limerick 13:20 - Benaud
Benaud has only hinted at promise in his three starts to date and will need to improve a lot to make a meaningful impact in this contest.
More to come and has a big chance
Limerick 15:30 - Dance Jupiter
Dance Jupiter hasn't got much luck in either of his starts for us to date, but has run well in both of them. He has gone up 6lb without winning, but I think there is more to come from him. The likely testing ground shouldn't be a problem for him and he looks to have a big chance.
