13:45, Ascot - Katie Midwinter: Further improvement to come
Sioux Nation filly Velozee didn't enjoy the most favourable trip in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot when last seen, but still finished strongly from towards the rear of her group to finish a three-and-three-quarter-length eighth to impressive winner Victorious.
The form of the race has already been franked by runner-up Senorita Bonita, who landed Group Two success on the July Course over Albany Stakes Libertango earlier this month, whilst fifth-placed Crownbreaker has since claimed Listed honours and seventh-placed Shimmering Sun has placed at Listed level since.
Trained by Paddy Twomey, the juvenile filly had previously won her maiden at Cork before winning a Listed Curragh contest, before being well beaten by Victorious when disappointing at Naas over 6f. She wasn't able to give her true running on that occasion but stayed on well enough when last seen over 5f to suggest the step back up in trip could suit this time around.
There should be further improvement to come from Velozee, and she makes appeal at the prices.

14:00, York - Katie Midwiner: Encore ready to win again
Course-and-distance winner Rousing Encore is currently only 2lb higher than his last winning mark when winning at Ayr last autumn, and 2lb lower than when only narrowly beaten by Golden Mind in a subsequent Doncaster run.
The six-year-old gelding is yet to strike this term but has made the frame on a number of occasions, including when rated 4lb higher, and can fare better than his previous two runs on the Knavesmire, which didn't go to plan.
Third at Ayr when last seen, the likeable Ruth Carr-trained contender can put in another competitive effort from an unchanged mark and could be worth keeping onside.

14:20, Ascot - Timeform Verdict: Jolly will be hard to beat
Touleen did well to get up for second in the Group 1 Coronation over C&D at the Royal meeting and should take a bit of stopping with Buick doing the steering this time. Kon Tiki is another who arrives on the back of a good run over C&D and looks the obvious danger.

14:35, York - Mark Milligan: Trip to prove ideal
The Group 2 York Stakes is the highlight of the Saturday card at Yorkshire's premier racecourse and Damysus should be ideally suited by stepping back up in trip having contested the Locking and Queen Anne over a mile on his last two starts.
John & Thady Gosden's four-year-old looked set for a good season when taking the Earl Of Sefton Stakes over 9f on his comeback in the spring but it hasn't really worked out for him with connections trying to turn him into a miler on the back of that and I'm expecting a much bolder effort this time than his last two outings.
The second of his two successes last season came over a similar trip to this, and he probably just lacks the pace to tackle the very best at shorter trips.
It would be no surprise if this extended 1m2f distance proves ideal for Damysus, and the fact that he is tactically quite versatile should stand him in good stead in a race that has attracted just five runners.

14:55, Ascot - Sam Turner: Acclaim looks a Great E/W bet
Great Acclaim failed to shine in the Bunbury Cup last time out, but he should be much more at home at his favoured venue and looks a tempting bet to at least reach the frame at double figure odds.
The selection's past record over course and distance in some of the flat season's toughest handicaps reads 2423 and his record over seven furlongs is phenomenally consistent 42112243238 with his recent showing at Newmarket a little below par by his standards.
All of Great Acclaim's six career wins have been achieved when he has returned to the track between seven and 20 days

15:35, Ascot - Sam Turner: Kalpana can give a good account
The home challenge is thin this year with Kalpana hoping to hand Andrew Balding his first victory in a race father Ian won with Mill Reef all those years ago.
She arguably should have won last time at Royal Ascot when she sauntered into the lead two furlongs out before being agonisingly collared on the line by Giavellotto in the Hardwick Stakes.
That performance took her Ascot stats to 31212 and two of her top three career performances on ratings have been achieved this term which suggests she is thriving at present.
The Study Of Man mare was kicked for home two furlongs out last year in this event and quickly put distance between herself and her field only to be worn down late on by Calandagan and I wonder if a slightly more conservative ride may see a different result as she appears to be getting a little quicker as she matures.
The 10/111.00 on offer looks more than a fair each-way play for a mare which loves the track and was only beaten a length in last year's renewal by one of the best Flat horses in the world.
