Racing... Only Bettor. Listen to Betfair Tingle Creek day preview now.
It's Tingle Creek day at Sandown and the first race of interest from a betting perspective is this Pertemps Qualifier Handicap Hurdle, and it could lie between a progressive pair that are towards the bottom of the weights.
Martin Keighley's Turndlightsdownlow shaped with promise in a pair of maidens before getting off the mark at the third time of asking switched to a handicap at Kempton last month, bolting up by 11 lengths from Lunar Power. He then followed up at the same track by another wide margin and appears to be improving at a rate of knots.
However, the waters are deeper here and he does need to prove his stamina for an extra couple of furlongs, so I'm going to side with Absolutely Doyen, who's progressing well himself.
Paul Nicholls' five-year-old completed simple tasks at Stratford and Sedgefield earlier this autumn before stepping up on those efforts when recording the hat-trick on his first try in handicap company at Ascot last time, readily handling the step up to 3m.
With his stamina proven in testing conditions, Absolutely Doyen gets the vote to continue on his merry way and notch a four-timer.

The Betfair Tingle Creek Chase itself is always a pre-Christmas highlight and this year's line-up doesn't disappoint, bringing together Il Etait Temps, L'Eau du Sud and Jonbon, who's attempting to bag the race for the third successive year.
Jonbon has had a remarkable career, winning 13 of his 18 chase starts and finishing second on the other five. He does tend to live life on the edge with his pre-race demaenour at times but can nearly always be relied upon to give his running, though a recent breathing operation has to be a slight cause for concern. He also has to turn around the form with L'Eau du Sud from their recent Cheltenham meeting, though it's worth noting he did look as if the race would bring him on there.
One of last year's top novices, L'Eau du Sud disappointed at both Cheltenham and Aintree, but he looked right back to being the top-class prospect he'd promised to be when slamming Jonbon last time and will be right there if reproducing that, though there's a slight feeling he may have just been the more ready on the day.
Both will have to go some to get the better of Il Etait Temps though, who I'm expecting to stamp himself as the top 2m chaser on the block with victory here.
Willie Mullin's seven-year-old has been only lightly raced in the last couple of years but has established himself as a top-notch chaser in beating both Gaelic Warrior and Jonbon in that time. He hosed up in Grade 2 company on his comeback recently and that should have set him up nicely for a tilt at this.
The selection may be a shade of odds-on, but Il Etait Temps is probably still value at that.

The final race on Saturday's card will see stamina at premium and conditions could well be testing by the time it rolls around if the forecast overnight rain arrives on Friday.
Venetia Williams' Tanganyika was progressive last season, winning at Market Rasen and Carlisle before signing off with an excellent second in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter in March. He shaped well when fifth on return his return at Cheltenham last month and should improve with that under his belt, though it's possibly worth noting that the yard is yet to fully engage top gear this season.
I'm instead going to side with northern raider O'Connell, who relishes a test of stamina and will be right at home over this 3m 4f trip.
He was very much on the up last season, winning at Carlisle, Market Rasen and at this track, and he saw out the extreme trip of the Eider Chase really well when runner-up in that on his final start.
O'Connell really caught the eye when third on his recent comeback at Carlisle, staying on well from a long way back and that should have teed him up nicely for this assignment.
