Saturday Horse Racing Multiple Tips: No rain risk with Pluie and Hartington for 18/1 double

Sandown
Sandown provides Alan's two bets for a Saturday multiple

Alan Dudman previews Sandown on Saturday and provides his latest multiple for racing on ITV...

Sandown - 13:25: Back Risk De Pluie @ 10/34.33

With a name such as Risk De Pluie he really should be running over in Ireland with the DRF seemingly submerged in water at the time of writing.

Sandown won't be for the shirkers either, and for this 2m4f Novices' Handicap Chase, I am hoping Ben Clarke's Risk De Pluie can put his experience to good use and finally get off the mark.

In six attempts over the larger ones, you wouldn't say he has been on the ropes, but I suspect Clarke is still searching for his best distance.

Exeter last time over 17f was too short, and Cheltenham previously in December was too far at 3m2f. He didn't give himself a chance of staying either at Prestbury Park as he made the running and also hit a couple of fences.

I'd like to see the positives tactics here employed and the form of his second in soft conditions behind Donnacha as a novice in 2025 (12 months ago now) looks a lot better following Donnacha's recent win.

Sandown - 15:10: Back Hartington @ 7/24.50

This 3m Handicap Hurdle looks open and it will be interesting to see when Minella Missile pops up off such a good mark at 121, but it's hard to back him at the moment and is hardly flying like an Odin raven.

Hartington ran no sort of race when last seen at Windsor on New Year's Day and in a perfectly symmetrical performance, the race was valuable and worth 50 large ones, and Hartington was beaten 50 large lengths too.

He's a much better horse than that and prior was runner-up in the Haydock Betfair Stayers' Handicap Hurdle over a more suitable 3m on good to soft.

He was 122 in that and 128 here, and there surely is scope for another good prize and he has acted around Sandown in the past as a novice.

An emphasis on stamina looks a plus here and trainer Joe Tizzard has fared best of all with his hurdlers this term at a strike-rate of 21% compared to his chasers at 13% and he is 2-8 at Sandown this term.

And with this being the multiples column, Betfair are running every weekend until Cheltenham the Bet £10 Get £10 on offer on Racing Multis - and you can opt in here

Bet £10 Get £10 on racing multiples this weekend

The Betfair Sportsbook countdown to Cheltenham offer is available again this weekend where if you bet £10 on a racing multiple after 7pm on Friday you will receive a £10 free bet. With this in mind, it makes sense to double up my two Sandown selections in a double that pays out at around 18/119.00 if successful.
