A welcome winner for Alan at Beverley yesterday and he has two more selections for us today from Salisbury and Bath...

Its a right royal affair at Salisbury

Back Award Scheme @ 4/1 in the 14:20 Salisbury

The Queen's three-year-old filly Award Scheme has won both her handicaps to date, granted this is a tougher task today but William Haggis is in great form and the progressive filly may well be up to it. Things have really clicked with her, following up a course and distance success with an impressive win at York, she could take this step up in class in her stride on the way to bigger things.

This listed company won't be easy for her and she faces a formidable older rival here, ironically a filly called Queen Power for Sir Michael Stoute. However, since she won in listed class at Newbury last March, she hasn't been able to reach that level again and that filly doesn't quite look the same this season. She could be vulnerable to one who is still on the up.

To complete the royal parade don't discount at a double figure price (12/1) the French raider Queen. This filly finished second over 10 furlongs in a Group 3 at Newmarket last October and could easily run into a place.

There is a Storm brewing at Bath

Back Storm Melody @ 4/1 in the 18:00 Bath

Ali Strong's Storm Melody ran a much better race than the sixth placed finish on his form card suggests last time out. He broke well, was up with the pace but when he went to make his move was hampered at a critical part of the race, just a furlong out, and yet still ran on to finish just two lengths behind the winner.

The extra half a furlong here will make all the difference for the seven-year-old and he enjoys it round here, two of his last three wins are over this course and distance. He will also enjoy the firm ground and he is now 10lbs below his last winning mark which certainly makes him dangerously treated.

The current favourite is Alba Del Sole who has been running well enough in defeat since winning twice at Leicester, but the handicapper may well have caught up with the five-year-old mare and she may just need to come down a bit from her current mark before she can strike again.
