Alan Thompson has two selections from the St Leger meeting at Doncaster today...

"he will continue to progress with experience so any step up on that York form should be too much for his rivals"

Back Spycatcher @ 16/5 in the 15:45 Doncaster

Karl Burke must think Spycatcher is decent

Back Spycatcher @ 16/5 in the 15:45 Doncaster

Highclere and Karl Burke must think quite a bit about this colt as they pitched Spycatcher in deep on just his second start but he fully justified that decision when finishing second in the the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York last month. He was only a length behind the winner that day and the pair pulled well clear of the third on that occasion, producing the strongest piece of form in this line-up in the process. His pedigree suggests that he will continue to progress with experience so any step up on that York form should be too much for his rivals to cope with today.

Charlie Appleby and Godolphin run their Dubawi colt One Ruler in this on the back of winning his maiden at Sandown just last month. They are a team that always need to be feared in these type of events but I feel One Ruler is going to have to be pretty decent to get the better of Spycatcher.

After two seconds it's time for Sacred to get her head in front again

Back Sacred @ 7/4 in the 14:40 Doncaster

These juveniles wont be hanging about here which will suit Sacred down to the ground. William Haggas's charge absolutely tanked through the Lowther last time out at York but was just found out in the last 100 yards, six furlongs was just a shade too far for her. But no doubt she has an engine and the return to this trip, for the Queen Mary winner, especially on a flat track looks a huge plus for her. I would expect her to be the last off the bridle and with less of a test of stamina than the last twice, she should be running right to the line. She has finished second in Group 2 races the last twice and can land a deserved win at this level.

Steel Bull could be the one to chase Sacred home, this beautiful grey colt won the Group 3 Molecomb at Goodwood and you can make excuses for him in his latest start at the Curragh last time out. I think he will be progressive and expect him to step up again today but I don't think he will have enough to beat Sacred.
