An 11/1 second(backed EW), beaten a head, in the Stewards Cup kept Alan's winning record going. Today he has two more from Sandown and Leicester...
"moving into handicaps is a plus and she handles fast ground well"
Calatrava can win on Handicap debut
An opening mark of 73 could be severely underestimating the ability of Calatrava here. She ran really well in defeat at Windsor last time, she was only beaten by one rated in the early 80's and returned with a wound on her leg. I think now that Ralph Beckett's unexposed filly is moving into handicaps is a plus and she handles fast ground well so I can see her opening up in handicap company with a success.
Returned in good form with a couple of seconds in 1m novice events (reportedly suffered a cut leg at Windsor latest). Should make an impact in handicaps.

She's been unlucky bumping into a couple of decent sorts so far and I'm hoping that Wild Hero isn't another one. He has looked much better since being gelded two starts ago and having struck at Leicester last month in a maiden, is certainly capable of winning this. However, I am not sure about the step up to a mile and while a mark of 75 seems fair. He has run in two previous handicaps off 73 and 72 and not troubled the winner. I think there is more potential in Calatrava and I expect her to beat Wild Hero today.
Vasari will enjoy the stiffer test at Leicester
A stiffer track and this trip should be a help for Vasari, he shaped well at Kempton last time when he finished behind a winner who has since franked that form by going on to win at Newmarket. Sir Michael Stoute's charge looks to be off a workable mark based on both efforts this season and it would be no surprise to see better to come given his connections.
Threatening to come good soon, caught a little out of his ground when third of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 20 days ago, running on. Considered under Moore.

The three-year-old gelding got a bit upset down at the start and in stalls at Kempton. That's no excuse as he was never going to beat the winner but he probably burned a lot of energy, so hopefully he will have learned from that experience and take the preliminaries a bit better today. Conserving that energy might be all he needs, to make sure he comes home in front of these.
