Expect better from Wall's The Fiddler

In a previous stint I really fancied The Fiddler to run a big race at Newbury, but the ground had turned against him and he couldn't show his true capabilities with a 10-length defeat.

However, I am not giving up on Chris Wall's stayer, and there will be no excuses with the going. He needs to bounce off quick ground. There's a bit of rain in the forecast for Monday, but hopefully the ground will stay good to firm.

This horse travels well for a 1m6f runner and he has a fairly decent turn of foot despite operating at this moderate level. He displayed that with a couple of victories at Redcar last season. He looked ahead of his mark back then.

We also have the bonus of him being dropped 1lb. And with Tom Marquand on, I expect a big show from him.

Tantzy has a great chance from top weight

This looks a reasonable 1m handicap despite the small field. With a couple of unexposed types and a Sir Mark Prescott stayer on a roll (Le Reveur is bidding for a hat-trick), I am hoping that all makes for a price on Eve Johnson-Houghton's Madame Tantzy.

She caught the eye on her return at Newbury earlier in the season, purely for the fact that she got involved in doing too much at the head of the pack. Subsequently she disappointed at Chepstow - but that could have been due to softer conditions.

However, she ran well in second at Newmarket last time and appreciated the return to a quicker surface.

She's still reasonably treated and Georgia Dobie claims 5lb off this top weight.
